Let’s face the reality that life with a snorer in the house is
just absolutely not interesting. Heavy snorers are known to be heard half the house away, their heavy, gasping breathing stops anyone else from getting a good night’s sleep.

If you snore like this you are probably making life terrible for everyone around you.
Nevertheless, below are the 10 reasons why people snore.

1. You breathe using your mouth

It is possible as humans, to breathe through our nose and
mouth. Difficult task or exercise involves our mouth to breathe in order to bring more oxygen into our lungs than we can through using our nose alone. This is okay. But if a person uses his mouth to breathe naturally it might cause several problems including snoring.
Nasal breathing is necessary for good and snore-free sleep.
Wrong shape of facial structure

The vibration of the soft tissue in your head and neck as you
breathe is the cause of most people snoring. Indicators include a long soft palate (more tissue equals more vibration), an excess of tissue in the throat and a long uvula (the bit that hangs down between your tonsils.

2. Sleeping in a wrong position
This does not cause any problems most times but if you
regularly sleep on your back you may be prone to snoring
problems. Sleeping on the back will lead the nasal airway to
collapse in on itself, hence the vibration on the tissue of the
throat and nose.
3. Too much alcohol intake
A glass of wine or beer is conventional in our society, and
absolutely part of our societal norms, but those susceptible to snoring might want to watch out for excessive consumption.

Drinking too much alcohol not only leads to deep sleep but
anesthetized body tissues will because of the effect of the
alcohol and the collapse of internal facial tissues which include uvula and soft palate. This will hinder the flow of air and cause vibration which makes the sound, we all know as snoring.

3. Old Age
As we grow older, our body becomes less efficient in their task. Increased age might lead to increased weight for most people and decreased muscle tones. Hormonal changes that menopause brings might also cause snoring problems for women who have never had it before.

Weighting issues
Watch out for your weight because being overweight is bad for your health, it strains the heart and muscles. People with weighting issues have fatter and thicker neck than thin people. This might lead to a narrow airway and breathing difficulty while asleep.

Snoring because of the drugs you took

Some medicines have an adverse effect on the functions of the body. They might act as soporifics, which might cause increased drowsiness. They might also cause temporary relaxation of the palate and tissues surrounding the mouth and neck. This causes narrowing of the airway and snoring.

Smoking
Smoking is very unhealthy for a number of reasons, which
include danger to the lungs. It might seem pleasurable, but it constantly irritates the lining of the airway, which obstructs the flow of air into their lung. This causes snoring.

Illness
Even a non-smoker might begin to snore if they catch a virus
or the flu, which is might cause catarrh, nasal congestion, and other breathing difficulties. Snoring is caused by blocked
airflow, so one with breathing difficulties is more likely to be
affected by snoring.

Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea is a dangerous sleeping condition in which sleep is interrupted due to lack of oxygen in the body. This happens when the throat relaxes intensely and obstructs the airflow. To the snorer and the person sleeping around the snorer, both suffer from disrupted sleep and a
wounded relationship.
