the vice president of Ghana Bawumia entreats Nigerians to help create jobs for Ghanaian youth

Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is seeking to strengthen ties between Ghana and Nigeria and he did just that by meeting a powerful delegation of top Nigerian businessmen and women at the Flagstaff house.

The purpose of the visit was to explore the business and investment opportunities of both countries so as to increase free-border trade.

Nigeria has always remained a main partner in Ghana’s West African growth mainly due to the economic and cultural ties of both countries.

Top on the agenda was the reformation of the port system in Ghana “that would make it the leading ones in West Africa”.

“We tried very hard to get Nigerian banks to Ghana and it has really benefited Ghana a lot. We don’t have a fear of opening up. We can learn a lot from each other,” Bawumia revealed.

Earlier, the former president, John Mahama encouraged the Nigerian government to stay resolved in becoming the economic power of West Africa.

Speaking at an inaugural address to commemorate the formation of the Olusegun Obasanjo Good Governance and Development Research Centre in Abuja, Mahama argued that Nigeria has “nothing to fear from Ghana or Cote d'Ivoire in an integrated sub-region”.

Ghana’s ties with Nigeria are documented to have strengthened especially during the reign of John Mahama.

But the Ghana-Nigeria ties still remains somewhat distraught considering the issue of the influx of Ghana’s retail market mostly by Nigerians.

But the tie between both nations still remains strong considering that both states are English speaking nations and also share similar economic values.
