My odometer reads 128 miles and in total I bought fuel of 5k till d car stopped due to d fuel finished.
Fuel of 5k is around 34/35 litres to do 128 mile on toyota avalon 2001 model v6 without AC.
Please is d consumption reasonable or outrageous?

But why would u drive ur car to the point of completely exhausting ur fuel. Not wise.

Anyway that's about 14mpg. Ur car is rated 18mpg city, 27 highway and 21 combined. It depends on lots of factors,, was the drive mainly in traffic or freeway, ur driving pattern too plays a lot, if u have a heavy foot it will affect ur mpg. The kind of oil u use also matters and then whether ur cooling system has been kazimized to make the fan run as soon as ignition is on, or ur thermostat has been removed. Are ur 02 sensors working, do u have a check engine light u on? If all the above passed then ur mpg is poor. Also have into consideration this is 16 yrs old car so I don't expect u to get the factory mpg, 15 city, 24 highway and 18 combined is fine.

Speed influences MPG (more speed, less time to cover the distance, but more fuel spent OR less speed, more time to cover the distance, but less fuel spent)

Hard acceleration reduced MPG

Stop and go traffic affects MPG

Highway versus town traffic impacts MPG

And do not forget tire pressure.

There are other factors like worn spark plugs, clogged air filter, etc

1. oxygen sensors that have failed can increase fuel consumption by as much as 50%

2. the wrong engine oil will increase engine friction, the harder the engine has to work, the more fuel it uses

3. a compromised cooling system will never allow closed loop operation, meaning you are going to waste more fuel

Get a scan, that will tell us if there are hidden problems that need to be resolved

That is how much fuel a V8 SUV uses in the city, if you can smell fuel burning while stand behind the car something is nor working right

14mpg for a 2001 V6 Toyota Avalon is reasonable for a car of that age. You don't expect a 16 year old car to still have the factory recommended 18mpg for City driving

what were u thinking when u bought a car with 6 fuel hungry cylinders to feed, v6 is for men who dnt care abt fuel consumption all they want is quick acceleration. shoe get size u kw, next time look for ur size 1.6l I4 engine dt way 5k fuel will give u over 300 miles n still remain

Sell the car and buy fuel!

The earlier respondent have pretty much done justice to your enquiry.

However, the quality of our fuel is also a factor. The deplorable state of Nigeria roads affect you mpg. The list is inexhaustible.
