Your buttocks tell the whole truth about your health
'€œHips don'€™t lie,'€ Shakira once sang, buttocks don'€™t lie either. Ask Jennifer Lopez or Kim Kardashian. The buttocks or backside, booty, butt, bum, derriere, patootie (you can call it what you want) is traditionally recognised as an object of sex appeal. The size of one'€™s backside actually tells a whole lot of truth about the overall state of the person'€™s health than probably imagined.

It is true that buttocks come in various shapes and sizes and there is no general rule of the thumb about which is better. Essentially, what is good for one person may be bad for the other.

Bigger backsides

Are bigger backsides in higher demand? The answer is a resounding yes. The desire for more prominent buttocks has spawned a huge industry of male and female underwear with built-in buttock padding. No wonder the number of buttock lift surgeries has been steadily increasing. Globally, there was an average 150 per cent increase in buttock lift surgeries over the past fives.

Why this is so is another poser. People with bigger backsides tend to have lower levels of cholesterol and are more likely to produce hormones to metabolize sugar.

Having big buttocks requires an excess of Omega-3 fats, which have been proven to catalyze brain development. So in reality, big butts are associated with higher Omega-3s. And Omega-3s are known to promote brain health.

So having bigger than average buttocks is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as excess fat is not allowed to accumulate around that area. It'€™s all about making the body stronger and healthier.

Square shape

A square-shaped bottom could mean many things. Maybe you have a bit of fat around your behind or maybe you lack strong glutes. Some simple core exercises or glute exercises are just the things to reduce excess fat around the waist and make the glute muscles nice and strong. A circle shape is good and healthy. It also means that there may be some fat storages near the top in the upper part of the glutes. It is easy to remove any extra fat from the bottom if needed.

Round shape

This is probably the most desirable bottom shape. This butt is fullest at the bottom and tapers out at the top near the waist. However, this bottom shape could also mean extra weight stored in the upper thighs. This bottom type also tends to lose fat faster when women age. With time, it will move to the mid-section. Getting extra fat out now may be best for future health.

Heart or pear shape (Figure cool

This is the bottom that is common with older women. The fat from the bottom has started to move to other areas of the body with age and lack of estrogen. If you have this bottom, it is important to start removing fat quickly to protect the heart from northward moving fat.

Just like the shape, the heart-shaped bum is usually fullest at the bottom and tapers out at the top. This can mean more fat is stored in the upper thighs.

While this type of bum is one of the more coveted ones, as women age and lose estrogen, the fat that'€™s stored around the glutes slowly but surely moves to the mid-section. If you'€™re pear-shaped, it'€™s time to celebrate. With a '€œpear'€ or '€œhourglass'€ shape, you have greater reserves of omega-3, which nourishes your brain and is essential to fetal brain development in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Inverted or '€œV'€ shape

This is the bottom commonly seen in older women once they'€™ve started losing estrogen. As with the heart shape, the fat storage that used to be in the derriere has moved to the abdomen or mid-section. Without hard work, this backside can be prone to sagging.

Buttocks size and intelligence

It is often argued that those with bigger backsides may be more intelligent, or that smaller backsides are healthier. Scientific evidence not only backs the argument that big or broad-bottomed girls and women are more intelligent, but that they bear smarter children.

Essentially, if you happen to have a larger than average bum you are not only considered increasingly intelligent but also most likely to be resistant to chronic illnesses.

However, it is not simply a big bottom that indicates a high IQ. What matters is the size of the hips in relation to waist size. To find out how your body rates in terms of omega-3, divide your waist size by your hip size; the lower the ratio, the higher the IQ.

Fat around thighs, hips and buttocks

Fat storages anywhere are not necessarily bad for the body. Researchers say where the fat is stored in the body determines a person'€™s state of health. Fat storages near the chest or in the trunk of the body are far more dangerous than fat stored in the buttocks or the hips.Fat stored around the buttocks and thighs is high in omega-3 acids, which promote brain growth, while fat stored around the middle is loaded with omega-6 acids, which just makes your pants too tight.

Fat in the hip keep the fatty acids away from the heart, the arteries, and the liver to lower risk of heart disease and other debilitating problems like diabetes . Since your body is ultimately programmed to decide whether to store the fat in the butt region or the stomach region, it is said that, in women, the hormones that direct and distribute fat are actually doing this to protect the heart by building up the buttocks.

I doubt the attempt at linking backside fat with intellect.

How come the smartest ladies I've met do not have big backsides? Many of them can even be accurately called 'flat'.

I'm not even sure I've met a girl with a big ass who is very intelligent.

If this article was re-edited from an article written for Americans and the facts were sought out from an American research then you need to understand that Nigeria is completely different..

I quite agree with this post. The distribution of fats in a woman's body is very important in determining her overall health status. I quite agree that women with big buttocks give birth to real smart children. I am testimony to that. The cellulite is what i don't like about big buttocks.
