Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is set to declare President Muhammadu Buhari’s seat vacant, if the ailing President fails to show up, in the next 18 days.

This came into consideration on Wednesday, when a pro-democracy group laid bare plans to commence a daily sit-out at the National Assembly in 18 days, if the Legislature fails to respond to the health problem of Buhari, as prescribed by the 1999 Constitution.

In a statement released by its leader, Deji Adeyanju, and Secretary, Dr. John Danfulani, the group noted that “Buhari has now been absent from office, and from Nigeria for 72 days, and if the situation remains unchanged, it would commence the sit-out on the 90th day of his absence”.

“The Leadership of the National Assembly must choose between the Nigerian people and the cabal”, Concerned Nigerians declared.

“72 days is too long for a Commander-in-Chief to be away from his country, without any explanation to the people that voted him in”, the group said.

“We hereby, demand that the National Assembly invokes Section 144 (4) of the Nigerian Constitution, and direct the setting up of a Medical Panel, in conjunction with the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to ascertain whether the President is incapacitated”, the statement continued.

“If the President is found with any infirmity that renders him incapable of discharging his duties, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, shall officially declare him incapable of discharging his duties, and declare his office vacant, as prescribed in (2) of section 143”, the group declared.

Mtcheeew nonsense group of people undecided Section 144( 4) can only be effective constitutionally when two third of the federal executive council votes for it or section 143 (2) can never be applied. Firstly their is no where in the constitution that gives maximum time for a president to live outside the country .secondly there is no any section in the constitution that says a president must not be sick

I have just confirmed the quoted articles and sections on LL84, Page 23 & 24 of Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Promulgation) 1999.

If the Senate President and the Speaker cease to carry out their function at expiry of 90days, by declaring the seat of the President vacant, then they also can be impeached.

The cabal can keep bundling him in and out of this country and keep him in life support, but must we continue to protect one man and be slaves to the North while the rest of the country burns and goes into anarchy and may be war ?

This is a preventable war, but Abuja thinks the Police and the Soldiers can maintain peace with guns when the citizens revolt. We are being pushed to the wall yet we are being stopped from reacting.

The day will come, when the fear will be gone. Already I have seen pictures and videos of policemen being beaten on the street of Port Harcourt, when the fear is totally gone, then there will be no way you can control the impending cataclysm.

Let Buhari go back to Daura, he is not fit enough to be President.

“If the President is found with any infirmity that renders him incapable of discharging his duties".

Above quote is already the case!!. I even thought Saraki have some balls.

Buhari himself said he should be impeached whenever Nigeria is in such crises. When late president, Yar'Adua was hospitalized in Saudi Arabia, Muhammadu Buhari said "The only viable option out of the present political logjam in the country is for the executive council of the federation (EXOCOF) to declare the president incapacitated and have him impeached".

I don't know what Saraki is waiting for.

He has a right to declare that

I equally have a right to declare myself the true Senate president.

He can declare till he is blue in the face it does not change anything unless he follows the rules in our constitution.

This is just the first stage to his becoming the president. Take president Buhari out, declare his position vacant, move the motion to become the president 'again' and some irking lawmakers will vote yes to that.

Osibanjo is going nowhere o. The constitution must take its place. When the president is no more capable, the vice president becomes the president. Shikena

Nonsense!

Mumuharri can run this country even if he's in coma.

Adeyanju and Danfulani should go find something better to agitate for. When he was in the country full time, what did he achieve?
