Is Nigeria really a country? I am shocked at what is happening in the country, basic infrastructure is a problem. God forbid if one ever have an accident so this is how the country will treat the person? I am yet to convince myself that I really want to come back. too much unnecessary deaths. I am happy that the social media is now bringing out the real tragedies of life in the country.

A ghastly motor accident happened yesterday at Ijebu Ode area of Ogun state - leaving unknown number of passengers seriously injured. According to a passenger who survived the accident involving a passenger bus, the crash was allegedly caused by Customs officers who were said to be collecting bribe along the highway. Nigeria , a demonised country haunted by the ghosts of mediocrity and corruption.

Only in this country will police stop a car without a reasonable grounds of suspension.

Only in Nigeria with you have custom roaming our express way outside the borders looking for bribe and settlements.

Cussed country

So I was in a bus directly behind this one when the accident happened...

For some reason, customs officers were chasing the IHARE bus. It's possible the driver was asked to stop and he refused to so the customs officers decided to put up a chase.

1. I must say the driver of the bus did a realllyyyy great job of controlling the bus else the accident could have been much worse. The bus skidded left, right and left before it tumbled twice - Twas like a scene off GTA IV. Again, he did a really great job to mitigate the crash by staying on the road.

2. The driver and the customs officers should share the blame for this.

Firstly, the driver put everyone at risk by deciding to race the customs officers. If he was asked to stop for whatever reason (bribe, or routine check), he should have. He probably felt that he's a good driver and his bus has a great engine so he had the advantage. However, he didn't put into consideration the very bad nature of the roads in that area.

The road were quite bad and he was overspeeding - trying to overtake another bus and dodge a pothole at the same time before he lost control of the bus and put up a great stunt to stay on the road. However, he should have known that the roads were bad and there was no way to make a detour. It was bound to be a chase till the death. (On the other hand, it's possible that they had been on the chase long before the accident happened and the roads were good or the driver freaked out after he noticed he was being chased and at that point, his autopilot reaction was to keep running).

Secondly, why are customs officers stopping passenger buses or chasing after them in the first place? This is a clear misplacement of priorities. They should be at the border doing their job and not chasing after passenger buses.

3. The customs officers didn't even bother to stop after, they just took off.

Fucking pigs.

Lesson for the future: The chase ain't worth it. Stop if you're asked to..

For the Fast and Furious riders - If you wantu run, be certain you can get away with it..
