WHy put the blame on this Govt? Is it this Govt that reach agreement with them? The agreement was reached in 2009 and uptil 2015 GEJ could not fulfil the agreement despite high rise in crude oil instead they keep looting in billion..
Most times, I just wonder, whether you guys are in this planet or you know the truth and just choose to be economical with it.
Was it under GEJ the the budgetary allocation to education reduced to less than a peanut? Was it under GEJ, that all federal university started getting monthly shortfalls in salaries while the rest of the MDAs experience drastical increase in their yearly budgets all in the period of crude oil price fall? For heavens sake, just be truthful for once, this government sees education as a burden not a necessity.

Quick correction. ASUU isn't in charge of running the universities. The VC, registrar, bursar etc aren't ASUU members.

However I do expect ASUU to monitor what the universities are doing with the share they've received thus far.

General impression is that the money provided so far is making minimal impression.
Sir, probably theoretical.
Processors, HODs and Deans takes part in most of the decisions and are very influential on major policies.
Deputy VCs are the head of administration and academics and they are ASUU members.
Most decisions taken on financial related issues are always done with selfishness.
There are so many things I can't say here which am very sure you are aware of.

Stop spewing ignorance online. How did the Education Trust fund come about? If all the new projects in your school are ETF projects then you should be thankful for previous ASUU strikes that precipitated the setting up of ETF.
what is this one saying?
Are they collecting half salary?
while would ASUU look the other side while VCs loot away everything?
Is not because they don't want to disrupt a futuristic source of illegal income since every ASUU member believed he can still become the VC?

Its about time. This government is the worst in the history of education in this country. Since 2015, the educational sector receives the lowest allocation in the yearly budget. There are no funds for research and our best brains keeping leaving the country in droves.

This was an agreement reached by both the FG and ASUU, why the FG chose to renegade on their part of the agreement leaves a lot to be desired.

It is unfortunate that if you don't shutdown the system and agitate violently the leaders of this country won't listen to your plight.

You are really on point bro. It's either APC never had a workable masterplan or they adopted a primitive type.

Their policies since 2015 had done nothing than putting more prostitutes on the streets, our young and fresh graduates being depressed with no hope of getting fully employed. Agitations everywhere for division.

Those with entrepreneural skills are not encouraged with good low interest loans.

APC govt in my opinion has missed it... God bless Nigeria

Do not depend on university education alone.

Here is the situation
The 2009 agreement promised 3 trillion naira in extra funding for universities, to be paid over 2 years.

This was cut down to 1 trillion over 5 years in 2013, out of which 200bn was paid in 2014.

Our budget for this year was 8 trillion naira.

I doubt govt has the money. And if you ask me, our universities need even more than that.

Meanwhile, fees are kept artificially low.

It is either fees go up, or government borrows more money from IMF to meet ASUU's demands.
oga make i tell you the real fact, the money dey naija truly but FG no fit pay that huge amount. They'll keep bribing the ASUU till kingdom come. Make i just finish my sch b4 the educational sector totally collapse in this nation.

Most likely the future for education means making universities public private....and redirecting the funding for education to primary, secondary and technical colleges.

And truly FG does not have that money. 3trillion naira is nearly half of our budget for this year....and it is to be spent on only Universities....even the N800bn ASUU is asking for is 1/8th of the budget...on just universities....when other sectors are also crying out...like roads, electricity transmission system, primary schools, etc.

even the primary nd sec schs ar not enjoying the re-structuring. If that is the case the public institutions shld be scraped nd we'll knw the private if the rich people. ASUU also has there own flaws, the 200B given to them in 2013 what has they use for?? How many universities use the money for the right purposes?? they all shared the fund within themselves. Nigeria has many tinzz to cater for than given them such a huge amount...

You seem to be the one not saying the truth. Jonathan agreed to pay ASUU around 1 billion naira every year until the end of the stipulated time, how many times did he pay up?. This problem was inherited by Jonathan who passed it on to Buhari and as with governments before it, this government will also pass it to the next government. Do not make it seem as though this government is the reason why ASUU has been going on strike since 2009!!
