Forget what ever you may have heard about women from the State. One thing people do not know is that Edo women are intelligent. Very intelligent…..and these women prove just that. In no particular order, let's celebrate these brilliant women.





Anne-Marie Imafidon


She is a genius born into a family of geniuses�. Anne-Marie is from the famous Imafidon family aka “Britain’s Brainiest Family”.


At age 27, she was recently honoured by the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth with an MBE ….’ Member of the Order of the British Empire’. She is the youngest person to ever receive the award since 1890.

It isn’t just about the awards though, she is also a mathematical genius. Check out her excellent academic streak……..


She passed two GCSEs in Mathematics and ICT at the age of 10, making her the youngest to ever do this. She is also the youngest girl to pass A-level computing at age 11


She received a British Scholarship to study Mathematics at John Hopkins University at the age of 13, and is one of the youngest to be awarded a Masters’ degree in Mathematics and Computer Science by the University of Oxford at age 20.


She is currently the CEO and co-founder of Stemettes, an award-winning social enterprise for young girls interested in science and maths.




Uwade Helen Akhere

She is the 18 year old Daughter of one time commissioner in then Bendel State and Professor of law at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Jim Akhere, Uwade Helen Akhere who was offered scholarship from 11 prestigious universities in the US;Cornell University, University of Chicago, Hampton University, Tulane University among others.





Anita Omonuwa…….

Daughter of a former Commissioner, Attorney General in Edo State and leading legal luminary in the country, Barr. Omonuwa (SAN), Anita isn’t just beauty, she has the brains to match.
Extremely ambitious, she has always been a 1st class student right from primary school;taking the first position in class most of the time.

She went ahead to do exploits in secondary school, graduating as the best student from Igbinedion Secondary School in her set.She proceeded to Reading University, UK, where she graduated with a first class degree. She is actually the first black woman to achieve this feat in the school.

She achieved the same feat when she graduated from the Nigerian Law School. She also graduated with a first class, making her the first Oversees student to achieve this feat.That wasn't her only achievement as she also cleared alot of prices .
She is currently an Associate in one of the best Law Firms, Templars.





Ameze Evbuomwan

She is the beautiful young lady who graduated from the prestigious Covenant University earlier this year with a first class degree in Computer Engineering. I excitedly talked about her here.

She is currently a Trainee Engineer at Hymaze Limited.






Arese Ogiemwonyi Ugwu

She is the author of bestselling book “The Smart Money Woman”. The book has reportedly been endorsed by someone who knows a thing or two about wealth and financial liberty, Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote.


Arese is no moi moi *�*. She has a Bsc degree from Aston Business School in Business and Management and an M.S.C in Urban Economic Development from the University College London (UCL) .

She is also an alumna of the of the prestigious Lagos Business School and INSEAD Abu Dhabi.


She has also worked with several established brands like House of Tara, where she is a non-executive director, Guaranty Trust Bank, where she co-hosted one of their financial programs, “Analyse This”, Guardian Newspapers among other companies.She is also an an associate member of WIMBIZ.


Adesua Etomi


This 31 year old,Edo State born, Nollywood actress isn’t only about the glam world of entertainment. She has the brains to match it.

She is a First Class graduate of Drama & Performance from the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom.She moved down to Nigeria sometime in 2011/2012 where she joined Nigeria’s movie industry aka Nollywood and hasn’t looked back since.


In 2016, She beat established names in the movie industry like Genevieve Nnaji, to win the “Best actress category" at the prestigious AMVCA.

Fact is Edo women are very intelligent and beautiful, but most of them just like Italy and I don't know why.
