A lonely old man lived in a lonely old house in the suburbs of a city.

He never left his house for long.

It was a midsummer, a Friday when the mailman walked by the house and called the lonely old man.

There was no answer.

When he looked into the window, he saw that old man lying in a pool of blood.

When the policemen arrived, they found a newspaper from Tuesday, 2 bottles of warm milk and one cold bottle.

The next day, the killer was arrested.

Who was the killer, and how did the police figure this one out?

mails are not delivered on daily basis I think.. so the mail man is innocent. cos he won't come if he did it.
the milk is for wed,Thurs, and that Friday.

news papers are delivered daily.
but obviously, the news paper never came since the day of the incidence.
so the news paper man was the killer.

A man was found dead with a cassette recorder in one hand and a gun in the other.

When the police came in, they immediately pressed the play button on the cassette.

He said “I have nothing else to live for.

I can’t go on,” then the sound of a gunshot.

After listening to the cassette tape, the police knew that it was not a suicide.

How did they know?
After the killing, the killer stopped the recording

Remember it was not stated that the milk was found at the door post. Who received the milk from the delivery man? The dead man?

Deliveries are not left outside the door.
usually, there is an opening for items to be placed inside the house incase no one is at home at the moment.
hence the milk can be brought daily and the delivery man won't even know the previous wasn't taken.

On a cold winter night, a man named Jack was found dead in his house.

He was found by his friend John.

He said that he was passing by Jack’s house and wanted to visit him.

He knocked and rang the bell for a really long time, but there was no answer.

Then he decided to remove the ice from the windows to look inside.

He did that by breathing on the iced window glass.

That is how he was able to see Jack’s body and to call the police.

The next day, police arrested John as their prime suspect.

Why?
Cold water and ice usually blurs transparent objects such as car and window glass. The glass can only be trans parent again by cleaning the inside of the glass not the outside
That's y u see drivers driving under rain cleaning their windscreen while inside the car from time to time

A serial killer kidnapped his victims, held them hostage and offered them a possibility to stay alive.

They had to choose from two pills.

One was poison, other was harmless.

Whichever pill the victim took, the serial killer would take the other one.

The victim took their pill with water and died.

The killer obviously survived.

How did the killer always end up with the harmless pill?

Lol, this one funny gang.

So which of the victims survived?
Because someone should be able to testify that the killer took the pills.

So here is the answer.
the victims takes the poisonous pills first and the killer just sits and watch them die without taking the pills at all.

people did not think to that direction ooo...the milk is obviously fresh

But looking at it from another angle... Why did the mailman not deliver for 2 days... And finally they have to find out who has the best motive for murder

Good luck to them ll

what if the person that delivered the milk is smart enough to take the mails along ?

the time of death is also needed to be determined to be sure

the milks is warm and the drink is still cold...........

A famous chemist was found dead in his laboratory.

There was nothing around him except a paper with the names of chemical substances:

Carbon
Oxygen
Nickel
Lanthanum
Sulfur

On the day he was murdered, the chemist only had 3 visitors: his wife Mary, his nephew Nicolas, and his friend Jonathan.

The police arrested the murderer right away.

How did they know who killed him?
He left a code using the symbols of the elements
From, nickel = Ni
Carbon= C
Oxygen = O
Lathnium=La
Sulphur = S

Combining these symbols, the name is NICOLAs,his nephew

How do you explain the pool of blood still visible, if it had happened on Tuesday, the blood should have evaporated .

Ah. Blood doesn't evaporate o. It congeals. It can't just magically disappear.

Nope the mail man might have an emergency and not deliver for some days, remember he was last on the scene, he would never return to the scene if he was guilty,

It's a riddle. I'm sure if he had an emergency, we would have been told.

Jack was placed in a cell 2×2 with one window at the top of the wall.

The window was big enough for him to go through it but too high for anyone to reach it.

The cell was empty.

It had nothing in it, except a shovel.

He had only two days to break out.

How will Jack escape?

Its a 2*2 cell he should be able to climb it

Simple! You cannot kill yourself then rewind the tape to begin playing from your last words.

Remember, the police pressed 'play' as soon as they arrived.

says who pls?

can't you record, then rewind before blowing out ur Brains?

suicides notes can be placed in an envelope or folded without one or do suicide folks stop writing halfway cos they shot themselves

there are usually more than one possibilities in logic scenarios like these ones

I wonder why we have a lot of murder cases go unsolved in this country when we have high number of detectives on nairaland.

Lol its not that easy ... Here its easy for people to disappear, no way to track em, no ballistics registration, 'no database', no cameras in major areas etc even countries with all these still have unsolved cases

if the man died on tuesday judging by the newspaper, why is the two bottles of milk warm, i think the milk man killed him and added two warm bottles of milk to make it seem normal or something like that

Not really, you see if the items were outside and I hear the milk comes cold, the warm ones are for Wednesday n Thursday the cold one for Friday

With this theory, the mail man killed the other guy

How did they know?

It wasn't a suicide because there is now way he would have paused the recorder after shooting himself to death. So for that recorder to must have stopped after the gunshot it simply means that it's not a suicide

A dead body is found at the bottom of a multistory building.

It looks quite clear that the person has committed suicide by jumping off from one of the floors.

A detective comes, goes to the first floor and walks in the room facing the direction in which the body was found.

He opens the closed window of that room and flips a coin towards the floor.

He goes to the second floor and does the exact same thing till the last floor.

Then, when he climbs down, he tells the team that it is a murder, not suicide.

How did he know?

Both pills were poisonous.
The victim would take the first one and die. Then the killer wouldn't have to take the second pill.

only to say ' I have noting else to live for, I can't... ' he would have more meaningful reason for a recorder if it was a suicide .
