Efenji: Police Parade Suspects, One Still At Large by Ayemokhia: 6:09pm On Mar 11, 2010
The Nigeria Police on Wednesday said it would not relent in its investigation until the last suspect in the gruesome murder of ex-Africa Independent Television Senate correspondent, late Efenji Efenji, is apprehended.

The Commissioner of Police Federal Capital Territory Command, Mr. Haruna John, said five of the suspects, who had been paraded, are already making confessional statements that could lead to the whereabouts of their accomplice, Soso, who reportedly fled Abuja when he got wind of the trail on him.

Efenji was stabbed to death by the group on February 14 while celebrating the Valentine Day with his wife, son, elder brother and family friends at Corteland Garden, Karu, a suburb in the FCT.

The deceased’s refusal to allow one of the suspects, Augustine Ogbonna (22), dance with his wife, led to a fight in which he was stabbed repeatedly by the gang before he slumped and died.

Narrating what transpired that night at the State Police headquarters, the second suspect, Chidiebere John (19), said after the incident, he saw a deep cut on Soso’s arm and he told him he sustained it while stabbing the late journalist.

He said, “When I saw him the next morning, before I could ask him how he disappeared the previous night, I noticed his arm was heavily bandaged.

“When I asked him what happened, he said he sustained from the fight; that what he did to that man he is not sure if he was going to survive it.”

John’s statement was corroborated by the third suspect, Paul Akpa (19) who said he actually saw Soso pick a broken bottle and chased after Efenji that night.

He equally said he saw the fourth suspect, Victus Ogbu (21), fight with the Garden manager who tried to disposes them of the bottle that night.

Their confessional statements did not seem to indict the fifth suspect, Raphael Madu (20), as they never linked any act of violence to him on that night.

However, the commissioner of police said that the acts that eventually led to the death of Efenji were jointly carried out by all the suspects.

He said, “Overwhelming evidences have been gathered to enable diligent prosecution of the suspects in court.”

So what was their benefit after killing the man? Have they now danced and slept with his wife?
What is going on self?
