I thank all those who reply to my BASIC programming questions. this is my second semester in school and we are to do FORTRAN please i need an online tutorial in this forum on FORTRAN programming. Please i need this urgently because it is a 4unit course, i really did well in my BASIC, so i dont want to fumble in FORTRAN. THANKS IN ANTICIPATION

hm the fear f FORTRAN the beginning of should i say success or failure look my brother all need to is know how to write a FORTRAN programs study the outline well u have a better advantage than me cos we were not taught basic and i did FORTRAN was difficult sha but i scaled thru had a credit


To be frank with u all u need is don't concentrate on what u are taught in school looks for god stuffs to read like myself now am sharpening my skills in python and hopefully b4 i grad i would have mastered it and learnt C++ cos i want to be a web based programmer

Column position rules

Fortran 77 is not a free-format language, but has a very strict set of rules for how the source code should be formatted. The most important rules are the column position rules:

Col. 1 : Blank, or a "c" or "*" for comments
Col. 1-5 : Statement label (optional)
Col. 6 : Continuation of previous line (optional)
Col. 7-72 : Statements
Col. 73-80: Sequence number (optional, rarely used today)

Most lines in a Fortran 77 program starts with 6 blanks and ends before column 72, i.e. only the statement field is used.
