My point is that.. We can't go forward as a continent if we refused to embrace our own culture and languages and make use of it to move up... If not we will still be doing follow follow to these glorifies countries... Imagine how they brainwashed Ajayi Crowther into translating English Bible just to enslave our minds.. And that one too translate Yoruba orisha ESU as Satan in the English Bible.. Whereas he simply translated Jesus as Jésù, Moses as Mósè, joseph as Jósẹ́fù and so on.. You too can check further.. So why Satan now Èṣù.. Why not simply Satani.. Brethren we need to embrace our culture and we can only move forward with our language.. Imagine how much damage our lawmakers has done to our country with their big English which ordinary man on the streets can't understand.. Now imagine if they are all in our language.... And lastly.. To the ordinary Nigerian.. Pidgin is our official language.. Not English

Pidgin was coined basically from english my friend. It is more like a midget form of english, a fake, a charade, cover up for the unlearned ones, twisting from the original, a sub standard. The list is endless my friend

I beg to differ on the bolded, no language is lower to any language. As a sociologist by training, I will tell u language is culture and culture is language. No culture is lower to any culture. I believe u did not mean @bolded in any vain manner.
However I agree that we need to agree on the style of education that best suits our society and the goal should be how to get every Nigerian child educated. I put it to u sir that there is no quicker way other than simplifying the process and breaking knowledge down with pidgin "

What about children that cannot speak pidgin. Are we still goin to teach them how to speak pidgin, just as english is taught presently.??

U are quite funny sir. If such policy will be implemented, it won't start wholesomely, but all public schools can start And other schools gradually integrated.
I see nothing wrong with kids that don't speak pidgin picking it up by the way, its pretty easy

English wud'v also been easy if the society decides.
We just talk bout pidgin as if we ddnt learn it. Twas still from foreigners, with a pinch of our local dialect.

Finnish and Swedish are the official languages.

Also, you must understand that Nigeria is different from Finland. Nigeria is a multi ethnic state. Which of the indigenous languages would you pick?

If you pick Hausa language, the rest would shout Sharia or islamization.

If you pick Yoruba language, Igbos and Hausas would kick.

If you pick Igbo language, Hausas and Yorubas would be uncomfortable.

It just can't work in Nigeria without it generating into tribal conflicts. Nigeria's political and ethnic setup is far different from that of Finland.

Why would you teach in Hausa in Igboland? Why would you teach in Igbo in Yorubaland? Use Hausa to teach Hausas, Use Igbo to Teach Igbo. If an Igbo man thinks that he can go to interior Hausaland to make money, then He MUST learn hausa or choose to Homeschool. Individuals can set up private schools to present English medium content. Bigger public schools in Urban areas can go with Bilingualism.

Baba bros, just look around u and count how many people that can't communicate in proper English but are quite fluent in pidgin.
Even american English is colloquial English which is also pidgin, but see how they adapted it for their use.
Pidgin trust me is more widely spoken and even closer to our local languages.

Then, there are a lot we have to let go. We have to let go of our foreign religions as well. In short, we need to revert to traditions. I do not believe that English alone underdeveloped us. What about our attitudes too? What about pervasive corruption and personal greed? When we talk about African underdevelopment, foreign language is just only one factor. China began to progress, not ordinarily because they speak Chinese but because they got their acts right. They voted zero tolerance for corruption and invested heavily in technology. You shouldn't also forget that they kept their indigenous religions as well. Have you kept the religion of your forefathers?

Why should we Kick out foreign religions? You seem not to be getting the point. The point is this: TEACH A CHILD IN A LANGUAGE THAT HE UNDERSTANDS. There are millions of Nigeria children who just feel education is a pain because they are being taught very useless things in English. Things that they would really grasp fast if it were taught in Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa. Download the Book "Decolonizing The Mind" By Ngugi Wa Thiongo and Moving The Center By The Same Author.

All over British Africa, there are two evil legacies of Colonial education :

1. The worship of boarding schools
2. The use of English as a medium of Instruction.

Tanzania uses Swahili from Grade 1 - 7. They were however afraid to use it beyond that because Kenya didn't follow suit. They felt that they would be alone. If Kenya - which has a national language - Swahili were to use it for Education, Tanzania will follow suit.

Very typical of an african. U start by insulting. A complete charlatan.
Can u make widely accepted sentences in pidgin.??
Have u heard bout warri pidgin being different from others.??

I going to work.
They playing outside.
What going on on this our country.

Are the above correct.??
Do you understand them.??
Can they be reshaped and still posses same meaning??

A typical grandiloquent u are. Answer 'em question without another insult if u must quote me pls. Thanks

At what point did i insult you? Funny that you label the behavior "Typical African." Ironically you choose to call me a charlatan while reminding me not to abuse you. Anyway, sorry for the offence.

What do you want to tell a child in a school in Lagos?

Religious Education - Love your neighbour; Jesus died on the Cross; Can you say that in Pidgin?
Social Studies: The president is the head of government, can you say that in pidgin?

If the pidgin language is underdeveloped, then use local languages of the nigerian people.

How many of our fathers went to school and excelled? Colonial education was meant for a few people who could work for white folks. Succesive African governments have adopted the same attitude. It was not meant to create inventors. It was not meant for the masses and the peasants. Education should be for the MAJORITY not the MINORITY.

Thank you for understanding where I'm coming from
.... Do you know how many people hate maths or fail maths.. It's not because they are so daft.... It's because they lost the interest when they were in primary school or in junior classes.. All because they can't understand the maths in English language.. Now imagine they were thought in their everyday language.. How simple it will be for them.. Don't tell me we cant translate maths into our local language.... Most of our teachers sef.. Don't think they know what they are teaching o.. They all cram from the book and download to the pupils.. Few of them can explain in simplest language

This is such a basic thing that I wonder how people fail to see it. For as long as education is delinked from the environment and culture of the people, it becomes ineffective

These evil legacies of colonial administration is evident in the US. So, why have the evil legacies not handicapped the US?

Canada is also one country where foreign languages (French and English) are the official language. Why have these foreign languages not handicapped Canada?

My mum for example speaks mostly her local dialect, she was once a teacher, she was taught and she taught english.
But i bet u bro, U CANNOT best my mum in basic mathematics, even i cannot. This is a woman who doesnt speak queens english, but she grasped what she was taught. She'd tell us that she ddnt top her class, imagine others better than her.
The worlds smartest kids(edo) wer taught in which language??
This guy that designed fighting robots was taught in which language??
Other nigerian geniuses wer taught with english too.
I'd reiterate my friend. Language is not our problem.
I'd end this discussion now. Thanks

If he likes, let him turn his head upside down to draw more of those caricature with eye pencils.

He is definitely not as good as Uncle T the legendary anatomy lecturer at college of medicine, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Excellent drawing skills

But I'm wondering how long it takes him to draw that and how long the lecture period is? Isn't this time-wasting?

Anatomy is not all about too much talk talk. It's all about knowing what is where in the body.
If you can master the drawing, you are more than half way bn a genius in Anatomy.
