One of the major problems militating against southern unity is the south-east and their victim mentality.

Why exactly should Southern Nigeria be united? For what reason?

Especially concerning the issue of who is Igbo.

It is a known fact that Nzeogwu led a coup termed "Igbo coup" whose results was untold hardship and a genocide upon people of majorly Igbo ancestry and generally, the old eastern region.

Stop spreading this false information. The coup that Nzeogwu led isnt what brought devastation to the Eastern Region.

However, my Igbo brothers who have found theirselves on the eastern borders of the Niger river wants to claim all the devastation to themselves.

They want us to say we didn't suffer also the destructions of lives and properties, just because some river acts as divide.

They're all too willing to talk about the marginalization they suffer because they "stood up against the Nigerian forces", conveniently forgetting officers and men from the west of the river Niger who led such resilience.

This is all nonesense. Western Igbos who fought on the side of Biafra such as colonel Achuzia, Colonel Ochei, Colonel Isichei, Colonel Chudi-Sokei, Major Keshi are all celebrated today by all Igbos. Colonel Achuzia used to Secretary -General of Ohaneze and the man is still a celebrity amongst all Igbos fue to his war exploits.

They don't talk about the Asaba massacre, it goes against their beliefs that they were the saviours who had to be hung on the cross.

In the most unruly and self serving manner, they want to tell you your own history and how saturated an Igbo you are.

Do you talk about the Onitsha massacre? Do you talk about the Awka massacre? They happend same as the Asaba massacre but people rarely talk about them. The Asaba massacre is even one of the most talked about.

They have arrogated to themselves "pure Igbo" and as the Jews did to the Samaritans, every other Igbo not domiciled in the south-east is an alloy.

Then when they realize that things have started favoring their "impure" brothers, they start fraternizing.

Your divide and rule tactics will not work. There is nothing like pure Igbo. Igbo is Igbo.

When Mike Okiro became IGP, they said, he wasn't "pure Igbo". Same was said for Ezeoba(chief of naval staff under Jonathan), currently also for our state minister for petroleum and then the CBN governor.

Blame those who created the nonsense called SE and SS that has polarised the Igbo nation. Also, blame ogba/Ndoni people of Rivers state, where Okiro comes from, who speak Igbo and have Igbo surnames but sometimes claim not to be Igbos. Some Ikwerres do the same.

What they fail to realize is that the same marginalization they moan about is what we face, even in greater proportions, but we graciously challenge them and have pockets of victories.

Politically, Igbos stand a higher chance with a candidate from the "non-core Igbo states", yet, our brothers would rather die in marginalization than watch any other "who didn't sacrifice during the war" ascend, answering Igbo.

They formulated and introduced the derogatory term "delta Igbo", (a very effective tool used in the continuing division encouraged by her enemies), just to be sanctimonious and reinforce the "purebreed" mentality.

How then do we blame those who have grown up to believe they aren't Igbos, even though they bear Igbo names and practice Igbo traditions.

Let's get over the past and come together and forge a better future, for as a saying goes "united we stand, divided we fall".

Umuigbo, Igbo wu ofu!

N.D.I

Have you people ever had a rally to tell Nigerians that you are Igbo and dont want to be called Delta Igbo? If you ask Ifeanyi Okowa if he is Igbo, what will he say?

You people want to put one leg in the SE and the other in the SS.

Tomorow, Lauretta Onochie will come to tell the world she is Anioma and not Igbo.

This is grossly incorrect, when we say Igbo, we are referring to all the states in the southeast ( Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi) and a little part of delta and rivers states. Stop regarding south southern states as non pure igbo, there are not igbo at all.

What in the world is South Southern LOL....

That is the propaganda you all used for years, but fortunately it broke in 2015. Look up Liyel Imoke, the former governor of Cross River and tell me if he himself, is not Igbo....

The Easterners/Biafrans are no longer waiting for useless "Igbo" leaders like Okorocha or Umahi to do what they are going to be doing for themselves, and Im happy we have woken up collectively to the deceit of Fulani and their Yoruba junior partners

I completely understand the issue of identity crisis in certain parts of Igboland (that is, Anioma and Ikwerre areas). I humbly say that Igbo leaders from the Eastern side of Igboland have contributed more to this identity crisis because there have been so many clear opportunities which they could have utilized to bring Anioma and Ikwerre areas back into the larger Igbo fold, but they (the Eastern leaders) allowed those opportunities to slip away by giving baseless and senseless excuses.

Psychology is a powerful thing that can turn your mindset positively or negatively. The fundamental cause of the identity crisis in the Anioma and Ikwerre areas of Igboland is the psychology of geo-political alienation from the larger Igbo populace. The colonial masters and subsequent Nigerian military rulers created this geo-political confusion by portioning Igboland into different regions. I am not going to prolong this explanation. Rather, I am here to bring a vivid solution and a positive change. This was the same thing Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe talked about in 1949 when he said that all parts of Igboland should be in the same region. So, the task facing Igbo leadership is to identify all Igbo villages, organize re-orientation meetings and Igbo Unity Conference, declare that all parts of Igboland must be merged together in one geo-political region, and work seriously to achieve the goal. Once this is achieved, the identity crisis is fundamentally eradicated.

Sir, just yesterday I asked somebody where he was from and the reply was that he is from Asaba. I told him he was Igbo then but he claimed Delta instead. I reminded him that Delta was a State and not a tribe. He went on and on trying to emphasize the demarcation between Igbos and 'Delta Igbos'. I have heard this over and over both from Igbos from the East of the Niger, Igbos from the west as well as non Igbos. IMO, it has nothing to do with some of the reasons you gave. Igbos from Delta and Rivers States are simply being wrongly socialized and most have sorry to say, identity problems. I also believe that the Igbos outside Southeast deny their Igboness in order not to be discriminated against. For instance, some Lagos Landlords bluntly do not want Igbo tenants. So claiming to be Delta or Rivers is to them a better bargain. All the same, other Nigerians see all Igbos as the same. Igbo but ofu.
