The Vice-Chancellor of the University said the university would commence academic activities from Sunday, January 7, 2018.

The Technical University in Ibadan is set to begin operation in January 2018 five years after the National Universities Commision, NUC officially recognised the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Ayobami Salami while meeting with pressmen announced that the university would commence academic activities from Sunday, January 7, 2018.

According to the VC, the University which was accredited by Oyo State Government will commence operations with 15 courses.

He said, “I wish to underscore the point that some of the 15 courses are relatively new in Nigerian universities. Take Cybersecurity for example. We want to be foremost in providing solutions to the aches of cybercrime in all its variegated colourations.

“Similarly, our Biomedical Engineering seeks to fill the yawning gap evident in the lack of technical-know-how for the repair of high-tech hospital equipment. We intend to train the requisite manpower to help stem the tide of abandoned broken hospital apparatus,

Apart from these, Salami also listed Software Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering as part of the accredited programmes the university would offer its pioneer students.

Salami also said that the institution has added additional two faculties to the existing ones- Centre for Entrepreneurial and Vocational Studies and the Centre for Language and General Studies to provide a well-rounded education.

Hmm

Better not be government owned because I doubt any state or govt has the funds to adequately look after more universities.

Also, fees better not be below 100000 as universities drink money.

This FTC is brought to you by the letter d. As in deregulation.

Please. . . Who has idea of the ownership percentage of Oyo state government in this institution?

It's really mind-boggling and totally unacceptable that the joint wealth of both the rich and poor of Oyo state residents(tax payers) was used in building an institution that will be placed in the administratorship of one PPA hence high tuition for students.

Now. . .My grouse is. . If this institution will be unaffordable for the children of a common man on the street. . . .Who then gets the generated income of the institution since its sole aim is optimum profit maximization.

My own is you can't use my tax to build schools I can't afford. . .

Ajimobi is a scammer.
He always behaves to be a pioneer of Good thing, but it is all for nothing
He started the payment for final year students just for him to stop after paying for a set since 2011.
He started dualizing Oyo state roads just for him to leave some worse than he met them.
I give that University four years before you stop hearing anything about it especially with the kind of school fee that would be charged, most especially if the next governor does not have interest in it.

I'm always for APC, but Ajimobi can play on people's intelligent. What is it that they want to do in technical university that can not be inculcated into technology university.
Is technical different from technology?

School fee:*GRAND TOTAL* ₦983,500.00

Lol, Even Covenant University that is a new generation Harvard is not charging up to that plus you will still have to travel since it's twain programs that will be running and after all you will still remain a Nigeria university graduate.

Cybersecurity that Lautech IT gurus will open their yawns with all manners of cyber crime and nothing will happen.

The school is about N900,000/Session-More expensive than Covenant University and almost twice the tuition of Landmark. It would simply be competing with private universities for students. So let's see how it fairs. However this could also be the final nail on Lautech's coffin.
