History was once again made in the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba inaugurated the board of the institution’s postgraduate school. This is coming after the recent inauguration of the Board of College of Medicine. The University recently received the nod of the National Universities Commission to commence both programmes.


In his remarks at the event, the Dean of the School, Professor Kevin Nwogu thanked the Vice Chancellor for his doggedness which ensured the prompt approval of postgraduate studies in the University by the National Universities Commission.
“I am aware of the efforts the Vice Chancellor made in ensuring that the Post-graduate school takes off”, the Dean noted.
He further appealed for the support and cooperation of the various faculties that are running post-graduate programmes to ensure timely delivery of the programmes. He vowed to make sure that the School sets an academic precedent that would be one of its kind in Nigeria, adding that they had already studied the activities of some other postgraduate schools in order to be the best.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nwajiuba charged the Board to ensure timely delivery of all programmes in order to be a model postgraduate school in Nigeria, urging the members to take advantage of the opportunity and learn from the mistakes of older Universities.
He also stressed the importance of adhering strictly to academic calendar, so as to avoid unnecessary delays usually associated with some Universities in graduating postgraduate students.

The Vice Chancellor further used the opportunity to encourage both staff and students to plant trees and flowers to make the University a green-campus even as he also called for support to the activities of the FUNAI Parents’ Forum in their drive to bridge the infrastructural deficit in the University.
Hear him: “This year is the year of tree planting and everyone is expected to plant trees and flowers to make the University look better”, adding that “the parents’ forum is not unique to FUNAI. Let us encourage them to make the University better.”
