Well, you must understand that (we) the Igbos have this feeling that the Nigerian state doesn't like us. The present government has further crystallized this distrust both with the president's unintelligent 5% declaration, appointments and all.

I believe the feeling is right and that is why it's easy for even a criminal to play the ethnic card and get disciples immediately.

I also believe Innoson is playing the ethnic card way too far beyond reasonable condonation. I started questioning his integrity when he said an EFCC official hit his wife and told her they were being treated like that because they are Igbos. That was it for me-----very dumb. I actually stopped believing him therefrom.

My dear, I understand your reservations about him having reasonable grounds to decline appearance. However, I have been in criminal litigation for a very long time.

Innoson is my brother but I can tell you that no court will tolerate this attitude. I will do the same thing this Judge did if I were in his shoes. And I doubt if Innoson is acting on the counsel of his lawyers.

I am sure you followed the case of Oliseh Metuh, the court had to compel him to appear in a stretcher even with the medical report presented.

I have followed this Innoson's case for some time now and he seem not to be ready to address the criminal element of his trial. Rather, he is always waiting for violations to commence a fundamental rights action against the violator. This is the strategy of criminals in all criminal trials. They sue for violations and claim damages and also pray the court to compel the prosecution to stop further action against them.

Anybody who is innocent will be the first to storm the court on any hearing date to establish a good defence. Whenever you see accused persons trying to decline court appearance based on certain excuses, just know they are most likely guilty or at best, not entirely innocent.

This drama should end. Innoson is not the only "big man" facing trial in court. Dangote, Otudeko, Adenuga, Alakija etc have cases and they appear in court when needed.

This is a case between a businessman and his banker. He didn't sign any documents on behalf of ibo people, the warrant issued against him is not in anyway connected to his ethnicity.
