i love rearing broilers but the major problem here in the north is that people buy them for shitty prices. imagine an 8 weeks broiler weighing atleast 3kg being sold for 8 to 9 hundread naira with exception to festive periods where you can get 1200 to 1300 for them. thats the only time i ever get to make profit and that is because my cost can be as high as 800 per bird. for me the major issue is marketing but i heard you guys in the south are having good and that they sell for upto 1500 to 200 so thumbs up.

I do off season broilers production, but one thing is the level of profit you are looking at. if you are in any major City in Nigeria, there are outlets ready to buy from you but you should be willing to sell on credit. the profit margin is OK.

The Mallam will also buy from you but at reduced profit margin.
but overall you are in business.
you can equally decide to sell at offices most especially on Fridays. you target you birds to be ready at month end.

i did in 2014. I later ventured into layers production. this is my 1st broiler since then but I hope to do it every other month.

In poultry farming you learn from experience, Like when not to debeak you birds, Tight office schedule made me delay debeaking to almost 18wks.
