Nigerians react to any nonsense.

Dangote being the wealthiest in Africa did not make the list. Isn't thst enough reason to know that the list is a joke. The person who penned down the opinion knows better than Forbe.

Otedola? Adenuga?

Abiola's family shouldn't be on the top 100.

Dangote is a member of dantata family... The source of dangote wealth is frm dantata
As in Dangote started his business with his mother's portion of inheritance from Dantata.

Being rich is relative.

Surely, there are many people around that you’re economically better than. How many did you help ? Besides, it’s prejudice to assume that they havent helped anyone. They owe no one. It’s a free world. Go out there and make yours

#4 Dantata Family

The Dantata Family is arguably the richest families in the country with the billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote also being related to this prestigious family.

Sanusi Dantata was a Nigerian entrepreneur and the son of Alhassan Dantata. His father, Alhassan was a Northern Nigerian trader in kola nuts, ground nuts and distributor of European goods. He used to supply the large British trading companies with raw materials. When he died, he was said to be one of the wealthiest men in West Africa.

The other members of the family include:

Ahmadu Dantata (1916-1960): son, a politician
Alhaji Abdulkadir Dantata: grandson
Alhaji Mudi Dantata (1918-2005), son, a successful Businessman
Aliko Dangote (1957- ): great grandson, a billionaire

The Op tried but should have done more researches before going to press.

Where is Ibru family? They arguably own the most successful business empire in Nigeria spanning decades- Michael Olorun, Felix, Alex etc- Sheraton, Federal Palace Hotels, The Guardian, Oceanic Bank, etc.

Adebutu nko, aka Baba Ijebu. Otunba Subomi Balogun of FCMB?

You mean also Dangote, Adenuga, Otedola are not qualified as one of the richest families?

Dangote is part of the Dantata's family

Those saying there are no Igbo family on the list, you ought not to be surprised, ask me why

After the 1967 - 1969 Nigeria-Biafra civil war, Igbos lost a lot; Odimegwu Ojukwu's father was the richest man in West Africa as at then, Nwafor Orizu too followed closely but after the civil war, Igbos lost their properties in Lagos, Portharcourt, Kano, Kaduna, etc. Aside properties, Igbos also lost millions if not billions kept in Nigerian banks as they were handed 10 pounds or so no matter how much millions the Igbo person had in his or her bank account before the war started.

Now after the war, all Igbo top military officers were retired compulsorily, all top government officials and civil servants sacked. Igbos had to start life from the scratch starting from 1970.

It didn't stop there.

The successive military governments after the war made sure Igbos were not appointed to key positions, especially those concerning security, and it was at this time most rich Nigerian families you hear of today started amassing wealth through dinning with the military heads of states and governors who were dashing them crude oil blocs, giving them government contracts without monitoring, giving them import waivers, trade advantages and all sort of trade and business favors including FOREX waivers which is one of the things that made Aliko Dangote the richest man in Africa he is today.

If you observe all the current Nigerian millionaires and billionaires today, 95% of them got their wealth through crude oil related deal and through government favor. And Igbos were not favoured by Nigerian government after the end of the civil war, so don't be surprised.

Majority of rich Igbos you hear or see made it through sheer hardwork without any federal government favour, only very few like the Uba family, etc got favor from OBJ.

But with time, I see Igbos flying above odds by making their wealth through technology, trade, sports, entertainment and ICT, this will be followed closely by the Yorubas who are doing exceedingly well in terms of technology.

In a saner nation, majority of these people ought to be serving jail term for looting the Nigerian nation to enrich their family pockets.

Today, former South Korean president who happened to be the daughter of late South Korean military dictator was sentenced to 25yrs in jail. S. Koreans protested until she resigned on alleged corruption allegation and now she has been convicted and jailed despite being the president and daughter of a powerful leader.

Former Brazilian president too is on trial to be convicted soonest....all because of suspected corruption allegation against him.

Hungary is doing same...so many other progressive nations, even South Africa recently did same and their president had to resign to give way for proper prosecution. It is a thing of shame for Nigeria and all Nigerians.

These are countries that want to progress.

If Nigerians were united, people like OBJ, Goodluck Jonathan ought to be in jail, and Buhari ought to have resigned and facing a very serious corruption and crime charges, but hell no, Nigerians celebrate criminals and still hope to get a better nation soon, how

No mind the op.
what did the said families he put up there have in terms of assets?
For me, I use to measure people's wealth by physical assets, cos if u say cash, some people keep their relatives in their bedrooms that use to vomit cash for them everyday and anytime.
how u go take measure dat one?
let me just stop here. what did i even know
