We politicised every ideas and issues in this country, some people thought that world cup hosting right is given to country based on infrastructural development only. In case you don't know the hosting right is given by: 1. zoning, 2. high level of football development in the country. 3 security , 4 Hospitality and transportation. 5 lobbying to win vote is very important. FIFA will still give the country money to fix some stadium before the event kick start. There is no state in this country that don't have stadium, the only thing we need is to upgrade them to world standard. How many stadium are functional in South Africa before they give them the right. Remember Buhari will not be in power by then.

The former Lagos state governor said the ‘Indomitable‘ spirit of the Nigerian will rise to the present occasion and deliver an awesome World Cup. The 2026 World Cup will have 48 countries competing for the prestigious 4-year tournament, 16 teams more than the initial present 32-team format.

The North African country as well as a joint bid by the USA, Canada and Mexico, have been authoritatively submitted to World football governing body (FIFA) for consideration.

“Morocco is bidding to host the 2026 World Cup, Nigeria should have jointly bid with Morocco because we can do it,” Fashola said. “With the expanded format of the World Cup, it will now be too expensive for one country to host it.

“Like we did when we hosted the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup when the gauntlet is thrown at us, we will rise to the occasion.

“The indomitable, undying spirit of the Nigerian will come to the fore when we have a deadline to meet.

“We will clean up our house to welcome visitors from around the world.”

You cannot generate and supply 24 hours electricity in 3 years and you want to host the world in 8 years. Fashola stop fooling yourself. Nigeria '99 during which lights at the stadiums kept going off is what you are bragging about as a yardstick to bid for world cup. Generate and supply that your "24 hours power within 6 months" first.
