That is the main reason why Ikorodu male citizens are so lazy and their ladies remain in their parents, even after having children. The Oro festival has limited them to Ikorodu environs and to them they enjoy it so much. Why Ikorodu is still vibrant today is because the visitors have contributed significantly to the development of that area. 1 Like |

Bigval5: oro is like a masquerade festival, for the fact yours don't share the same attributes with theirs doesn't mean, they should ceased to exhibit their culture or what's you people problem it's the same Igbo that we wail on a Yoruba governor legalizing Yoruba speaking language in his Yoruba state. pls you people should quit being unreasonable 2 Likes |

Empiree: See ode...Mumu will always find a way to justify his mumuism. Ok so ask yourself , is Ilorin in anyway better than Ikorodu or other Yoruba towns that practices Yoruba culture 100%? Maybe when Ilorin gets to Boko Haram level of "Islamic culture" you will be most pleased by then. 2 Likes |

QuietHammer:the chinese does not restrict movement nor cause women to remain indoors when they celebrate their cultures. everybody is free to partake in it so what exactly are you saying. You must be silly to have compared christmas to this shameful uncivilised festival and backward tradition 1 Like |

The uselessness of this culture or whatever you call it can only be imagined. Haba! The other day when I said that the government is just forcing Ikorodu to develop, one guy was asking me questions he should ask his father. Of what help is oro for heaven sake? |
Re: How Oro Festival Paralysed Activities In Ikorodu Town, Lagos by QuietHammer(m): 7:10am On May 10, 2018 |
Deltayankeeboi:So in other words the restriction of movement is what makes the oro celebration barbaric. Then I guess Road construction and curfews are also barbaric since they also restrict movement. Oro is a festival just as Christmas. Why am I silly to have made a comparison? You don't seem bright. I hope you are not a waste of my time. 1 Like |

QuietHammer:oga you have no points.stop making unnecessary comparison. comparing road construction to a festival? really? has there been any time during a road construction were plans are not made for other pathways to be taken. are women forced to stay indoors during construction. so please tell me how does road construction and your festival relate to a point of comparison. you are not making any sense. you are so blinded by tradition which does not benefit no one. there's no comparison whatsoever with christmas and oro festival. they are two parallel lines. stop being foolish. you are trying too hard to sound sensible. 1 Like |

I am not from Ikorodu but culture is culture. To restrict night movement for one day a year is not too much. People know in advance. Governments at times impose curfew for weeks for flimsy excuses. African culture is under attack from Africans aping oyinbo. Whereas oyinbo do not even take you seriously. Value and be proud of your culture, promote it the world will value it too. |
