JOB SUMMARY
Slickline service uses a single solid-stranded non-electric cable, known as slickline. The slickline is secured to the slickline unit, passes through a stuffing box and pressure control equipment mounted on the wellhead. The slickline is used to run, set and control downhole equipment such as tools, recorders, plugs or flow-control equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. remove sand and paraffin from the wellbore

2. use weight indicator gauges and depth counters to monitor the tension and depth of the slickline

3. install and retrieve valves, plugs and pressure regulators

4. lower and raise downhole tools and plugs to proper depth

5. direct fishing tools used to retrieve broken or lost wire or equipment

6. mechanically manipulate downhole tools from operator compartments in slickline trucks

7. operate hydraulic pumps to spool slickline back onto reel drums.

8. Assistant operators provide support and assist with operations.

9. perform job planning, implementation and evaluation of pressure control equipment, as well as the running of slickline tools.



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

BSc, equivalent
Petroleum Safety Training (PST)
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness (H2S)
