Lars is going to play with a 4-4-2 formation. I don't get all these 4-3-3/4-5-1 fantasy lineups you guys are throwing out there. In 2 matches in a row the SE have played with 4-4-2. Kaita playing on the right flank is the major indication of this new formation if anyone feels like saying the contrary. There was no sign of 4-5-1 nor 4-3-3 in the match against Colombia. If the lines weren't as distinguishable, it's because of the fatigue factor as time goes by.

We will see a SE lineup with 2 wide players, 2 holding/attacking midfielders and 2 forwards (1 anchorman, 1 support striker).

Edit:

Oops, I didn't see this post.

@Marlbron
need some changes in your team and considering Lagerback prefers a 4-4-2 rather than a 4-5-1, proposing its variant would be more likely

Thank you!

Iyineda,

Formations should be fluid and not static over 90 mins. it should neutralize the opponent and help you win where possible. Against Argentina who are faster on the ball with poor defenders, a conter attack strategy should be employed.

Kaita is not really a winger, so is the winger Osaze or Utaka or Nsofor?
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by Ranoscky(m): 9:09pm On May 31, 2010
Well, everybody gat their own opinion but for me, I'll lyke the coach to play 4-5-1 against argentina.

the power of those guys relies in the midfield and they lyke attacking leaving their defence open so playing 5-4-1

formation will help for them not to gain possession in the midfield always, and lgerback should leave someone lyke

martins up front for his speed in case of any CA.

Daz ma Opinion, thanx!

Agreed. I just wanted to point out Lars' preference in terms of default formation. I believe he would start with a 4-4-2. But depending on the way a game evolves, we might see some modifications.

Here you go:
Iyineda:

                         1
                    Enyeama
                  15             5
  17          Afolabi     Adeleye        3
Odiah                                      Taiwo
                10             19
      7       Mikel        Haruna       11
  Obasi                                  Osaze
                   18          8
                Nsofor   Yakubu

Captain: Osaze
Free-kick takers: Taiwo, Nsofor and Haruna (depending on ball angle and distance)
Corner-kick taker: Haruna
Penalty-kick taker: Taiwo

Regular subs: Martins (for the Yak), Kaita (for a winger if we need to break the oppositions attacks)

Lars will probably give the Yak the arm band. And if he prefers the Yobo-Shittu duo, then the arm band will be Yobo's.
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by DrKitaun(m): 11:49pm On May 31, 2010
Enyeama is going to be the Captain in case Yobo doesnt start . . .

Kaita is just being used as a decoy on d right wing! Yak cant get benched, dont u guys get it ?

I weep for IK Uche.

Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by Ranoscky(m): 9:52am On Jun 01, 2010
@Dr kituan, I'm not against the coach incuding Yakubu in the list but let's face the fact, at the moment, Anichebe is

fully inform more than Yakubu. daz ma opinion!
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by kobikwelu(m): 10:05am On Jun 01, 2010
its a fact we are going for the 4-4-2 formation

considering our strengths, our attackers are not the best, so i tink they need support upfront.

i like what he is doing with keita on the flanks, i feel that keita would start on the flanks based on his workrate and defensive capabilities.

as trevor francis rightfully said , he dunt see a 4-4-2 formation winning the world cup

Guys at least stop the critics it doesn't help, they are all trying there best out there, and here you sit doing nothing to represent this country, all they want is your fucking total support, let join hands and Niger shall be great.
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by DrKitaun(m): 10:32am On Jun 01, 2010
Kaita on d flanks at d WC ? Why was Obasi, Utaka, Osaze listed in d team ? To watch Kaita play 7 or to jampack the midfield with 4/5 of dem ?

Rano

are u judging him based on these friendlies, even at Everton, Yak rules the roost
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by Ranoscky(m): 10:57am On Jun 01, 2010
^ I'm not judging him based on the friendly matches that he played and precise, i didn't even watch the friendly's,

but i'm judging him based on club performance. he makes tins happen whenever introduced in a match at his club.

he was stil recuperating from an injury he sustained in his club that was why he has not been playing all doz while.

i have watched several of his game at everton and i'm so impressed with his performances. D guy is good no doubt!

LOL levels don change, its no longer super chickens its now super eagles grin
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by Nobody: 3:22pm On Jun 02, 2010
super eagles have proved themselves. they aren't super chickens. they maintained most possession in the game so i think that is they just do their best against argentina, they can come out with a draw or even a win hopefully and prayerfully
Re: Nigeria Vs Colombia Friendly (1 - 1) by Kgdavid(m): 4:57am On Jun 03, 2010
i just got to understand that kaita will probably be deployed on the right flank to stifle the threat of messi who will be playing on argentina's left
