Sm of the best students were once average ao its no big deal. Now u need to surround urself with the right frnds in ur class. When i had academic problems like u in my secondary skol i looked for the most intelligent student dats patient and learnt from him and people arrnd him. There are always people ready to teach others in ur class make frnds with them sm might even have idea on how to organize urself and manage ur expenses. U don't need many frnds just d right ones. There's no shyness with ur studies.

Ps skol life is personal d fact sm1 finished b4 u or not doesn't mean they will be better than u. Dont stop keep moving.

After reading 2 paragraphs from your text I arrived at a simple and straight conclusion.

Number 1.
Failing courses in first semester year one is admissible, but continual failing in subsequent years/ semesters simply shows your are either unserious or disorganized.

You should have taken measures when you realized you weren’t good in all these courses. While allow it get this messy?

Number 2.
This is not the end of the world, you can simply change the situation to a success story by simply advising yourself.

Take the bitter pill, ask yourself the true hard question...WHAT DO I WANT IN LIFE

Do not be afraid to take the direction your spirit leads you, even if it tells you that you’ve been in the wrong lane already...

Once you identify this bliss, then you’ll begin to live...and see reasons to commit by all means towards achieving set goals and further attain your dreams.

Forgive my tone, but this same advise from my friend saved me when I was in a similar mess in school, and today I am more learned not to allow avoidable mess happen.

For now all I see, you need some work to do within.

Think of a course you can change to where you are sure, you are interested. Enquire from senior course mates some cheap departmental courses to boost your CGPA. Do that very fast.

Your network is your networth, if you want to be the best you have to mingle with the best.

If you have friends with the same interest, making it out with good grades then you will surely make it out.
You can borrow text book, some lecturers do give out course outline, study with that.

I believe you know the right to do, you're just lazy and not ready to make good decisions.

Just sit up, that's all I can say.

I'm typing this with tears filled eyes. I'm 200 Level student of an higher institution located in the south eastern part of Nigeria. I gained admission around August / September 2016 but i couldn't resume same time with my mates because of some financial problems with was later sorted out and I had to resume half way of the semester with almost all quiz already done and just a week to exam. I did all i

could do to make sure i avoid carry over but unfortunately for me I had 3 carryovers in my first semester year one and 4 carry overs in my year one second semester.
My 200 level exam came and i could only register one carryover out of the carry over i had in my year one first semester and I did (still hoping it comes out good).
Our 200 first semester results level results was released two days ago and i went to check mine today to my utmost surprise i had 4 carryovers out of 7 of our departmental courses which was released, i couldn't believe what i saw even though i did all i could do to make sure I don't miss quiz or assignments. I wasn't always in school to mark my attendance because of my financial situation to transport my self to school every day and i can't tell someone to mark my attendance for me cos the lecturers are fond of calling each and everyone names one after the other to make sure no one is trying to helping anybody.

I don't want to bore you guys with a long story, as I'm typing to you right now i got
1 outstanding carry over in my year one first semu
1 outstanding carry over in my year one second semester and
4 carry overs in my 200 level first
semester

Our 2nd semester exam is starting on Monday and I'm doing everything within my power to make sure i don't disappoint my self one more time.
I can't just imagine the pain my parents are going to feel if they should know what I'm going through right now, I'm dying inside of me.
Please i got two years left, i noticed how good nairalanders are with assisting people with good advices that's the reason I'm tabling my troubles before you guys.

Please i need help with what i can do to graduate same time with my mates, i know it's impossible to make first class and almost impossible to make 2.1 all i need right now is to come out at the same time with my mates with a 2.2 degree.

Forgive my typos please.

Please i can't tolerate insults cos i might end up killing myself this is really killing me.
God bless you all

Why is it so hard for you to tell us the name of your institution is University of Nigeria, Nsukka @ OP? Simply tell us your course if you really need guidance to overcome your past issue.

Study past exam questions and get comfortable with the idea of an extra year; it's not the end of the world, some of your "mates", won't even graduate.

Bro, u don't have to have all the textbooks all you need is to have that one friend that doesn't joke with material and befriend him from him/her you can get all the necessary materials you need to pass. That was what i did...

Don't get me wrong, i was never in lack of money while in school but i found out while still in school that it's not the number of materials you have that helps but the number of "right" materials you read that matters.

Make a single right friend in school and follow him up since you are a shy person.

Every problem has a blessing in disguise.
Why don't u concentrate on graduating with good grades than with ur mates.
Doing very good in your carry over courses will really help boost ur GPA even though u might not graduate with your mates.
I know it's hard but try not to out yourself under any pressure.
You might get to spill, but make sure u give every carry over your best!

What's your current CGPA?

Economics is a course that is quite demanding and it gets tougher as you go higher in level.

I know a lot of people that are very poor and graduated with first class while some of the rich ones had 2.2

Let me give u an advice :

First of all, I will ask you a question.

Are you an olodo? That is are you dull academically?

You seem not to be prepared to study and pass, instead of wasting money for school fees, use the money to start up a business. School isn't for everyone.
Re: Carry Over Is Ruining My Life Please Help Me by Nobody: 11:08am On Jul 08, 2018
Common bro... Cut us some slack here man!.

I think you're being a little naive , being from a humble home has a lot of disadvantage but it also has a few encouraging twist.. One of which is being at the bottom, you can't go further down. So any good hustle u take on will lift you up..

I got to school when half the semester was gone,, I was like you then, I started out waiting to find the perfect time when all my fees were paid, accommodation available etc so I that I can resume, but I came to the realization that you have to make out with what you have..don't give yourself an excuse to fail.

I got to school with a full bag pack, slept in classrooms, (met some folks in same situation), when I got to school I had only 3weeks to exam, I had to study my ass off...I didn't get a carryover.. I couldn't, I knew how hard my parents worked.. I can't risk failing, it wasn't even an option..
If you make an effort to achieve your dream, as long as you are determined the universe will provide a way for you

It wasn't long I started cleaning compounds for extra income,,that was where I met a lecturer that offered me a small space to live, and soon things started to pan out fine.

Never ever give your self an excuse to fail.. Do what is needed even if everything is not perfect, just start with what you have..that's all...

I’m an average student and I studied economics, mathematics is very important all you need is determination and study frequently. you’ll end up preferring it to other written course.. stay strong you’ll come out good.

After reading your write up I can tell the name of the school cos that's where I graduated from and its not f**ckng easy over there.

All you need to do is to work extra hard, and also learn how to answer questions, like understanding how you should answer Mr Agbanike question when writing his course it helps

Also apply for extra credit load in your 300l and 400l talk to your D.O he will help you out. I think the maximum should be 30 credit unit. Wish you success bro

1 outstanding carry over in my year one first semu
1 outstanding carry over in my year one second semester and
4 carry overs in my 200 level first semester

I once had the same exact problem as yours but I came out of it successfully. you do no give enough time for revision and you do not understand what you are reading (because you rarely attend classes). that's the issue with most students. when you study, devote 70% of study time to revision. rent an accommodation or squat with a friend who stays close to campus so you can attend classes. when you do try to take a very detailed note of what is being taught. to make it in life, you have got to be determined.

My guy, I am a 2:1 graduate of economics managing a 40k job. Just do your best and leave school and face life's challenges. Meanwhile, change that your monicker and try to relate with egg heads in ur dept. Even if it means bribing them.

God bless you all for the advises. I'm really sitting up I have been reading since last night non stop for my exams tomorrow and I'm sure with all the past questions i collected from my class rep and my female friend I'm sure the my 2nd year 2nd semester results is going to be good if i should continue this way even my my attendance this semester was nothing to write home about.
Thanks everyone once again
let me advice you. If you have not been reading like 2 weeks before this exam, Oga you're still going to fail. U need to prepare for your exams 2 weeks from the date with constant reading. If you force yourself overnight to read a course you have this week, na so you will have blackout for hall and you will forget all. You ant even read everything. Just over a night. Kai.

To butress what you just said below having extra year is not suicide. Have seen brilliant students with good grades having carrying over or extra year because of final year project. The most important thing is to come out with good grades which is still possible for you to achieve.

Thank you.
