I hope we are not just rushing into this for political gains....i am not positive about her prospect. Good initiative but who are those that will be running it? The system is rotten! The Civil service is worst than the Politicians we are chasing presently. They are the reason Politicians are having the big smiles everyday.

The logo should just be "closer to the world." No need to repeat Nigeria.
Good development nonetheless, but that is if tribalism, zoning, and turn-by-turn will let the airline function as it should, and not be dominated by clueless idiots whose sole aim is to steal and suck resources for personal use from the company.

Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika on Wednesday unveiled the name of Nigeria’s national carrier, as well as the logo at the Farnborough International Airshow in London.

Sirika said the national carrier is Nigeria Air.

During the unveiling, the minister said, “this will be a National Carrier that is Private sector-led and driven. It is a business, not a social service. Government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it. The investors will have full responsibility for this.”

“The Nigerian Government will not own more than 5% (maximum) of the new National Carrier. Government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it,” he said

He added that government is in talks with aircraft providers, “We’ve been talking to Airbus and Boeing (and they’re present at this event) regarding the aircraft for and we will be making announcements very soon. We are currently negotiating.”

I agree with you, having less than 5% means the Federal government would be very limited on the decision making. Hence investors can set air fares as high as they want, unless if their intention is to have some many investors that none has more than 5% share.
