They have been rumors about clashes arising from defection of Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to PDP in Kano state. Mal Ibrahim Shekarau who is the former Governor (2003-2011) is in control of the party.
Recent developments shown governor Ganduje of Kano lobbying the long time rival of Kwankwaso, Mal Shekarau, to APC to give him Senatorial ticket and the deputy governors seat to help fight Kwankwaso.

But what appears is Kwankwaso and Shekarau are working towards reconciling and taking over the state from APC to enable them fight their common rival, President Muhammad Buhari.
Sen Kwankwaso is expected to declare for the Presidential contest while Shekarau would take over the Senate seat. And both of them would choose the next governor of the state based on their agreements.

This is the first formal meeting the duo held in 15 years when Mr Kwankwaso paid a congratulatory visit to Mr Shekarau for defeating him in the 2003 governorship election.

DAILY NIGERIAN reliably gathered that the party leaders at the national level have favoured Mr Kwankwaso to have 51 percent stake in the party structure, having joined the party alongside nine members of the House of Representatives.

Shekarau was known and Dantata was a popular philanthropist. There was also division in PDP as many strong members dumped the party over Kwankwaso's behavior.

Why couldn't PMB win Kano for his CPC candidate in 2007 or 2011? They failed because they didn't have clout. PMB couldn't win that seat for anybody just like he couldn't secure a guber seat in his own state

Don't mind buharideens the kitchen is too hot for them they're losing it. Or why didn't Jafaru win in 2011 when buhari anointed him? They are overrating buhari who rode on people's back to be the godfather, 2019 their eyes will clear.
Why is buhari scared of having the elections sequence re-ordered?

Kwankoso is gradually realising that he is losing his political weight in Kano, that is why the sudden luring of his long standing arch rival in person of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau to help him out. Imagine the almighty Kwankoso defecting a party without even a councillor following him.

2003-2015 not even 11. Obasanjo defeated him in Katsina in 2003.

Oga, you are well grounded in Kano politics.

In 2007, he won the Presidential election votes in Kano because of Shekarau, in 2011 he won because the Northernern Elders Forum adopted him as their sole candidate and Kwankwaso backed him against Shekarau, in 2015 he won because of Kwankwaso again.

But when the 3 of them went squarely against each other for their personal interests was during their Kano Governorship election in 2011, Buhari was beaten stupidly and he got only 7.2%, and Kwankwaso won Shekarau with only 62k votes.

Shekarau + Kwankwaso is a combo Buhari wouldn't want to jam again, hence why they are heavily lobbying the Shekarau they dragged to court for corruption.

I pity the day Kwankwaso and Shekarau will enter Kano.
