This is one major thing that the Lord Jesus acquired. He did it to set a pattern for us to follow and to my mind this is the greatest gift to life and destiny. Ministry, calling and destiny are all about obedience. Some young ministers have asked me saying, “Sir, we see a contentment in your ministry.” I said to them, “When we entered ministry, we didn’t do it to succeed; we entered into ministry to obey God.”

There are two places that are dangerous to your obedience in leadership:

1. When you have not succeeded. When there’s no proof of the calling of God on you. At that time, it is easy for you to change your instructions. Many people have moved away from where God originally posted them and some have changed the details of their instruction because it is not palatable or because of lack of results.

2. The second place that is dangerous is when you really begin to succeed. At this time, you can have resources enough to enter into some disobedience. It is at this point that people push their leaders to do what God didn’t tell them to do or what they are neither gifted nor suited for. At times also, your nature and personality can be suited for certain things that God has not called you to do, that can lead you into serious problem.

Hence, you must learn obedience and continue to train yourself to learn it. The success of Jesus was in that area. Regularly, you hear Him say things like, “As I hear, I do.” He had to obey, and He obeyed.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to learn and walk in absolute obedience in Jesus’ name. Amen!
