Alphonsus Igbeke (ANPP-Anambra North), the All Nigeria People's Party senator who replaced Joy Emordi at the Senate barely three months ago has decamped to the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). Mr. Igbeke who has not made a major contribution on the Senate floor since he was sworn in declared his intention to join PDP in a letter to the Seante president on Tuesday.

In an earlier interview, Mr. Igbeke had admitted that he would love to return to the PDP. He had been a member of the PDP from 1998 to 2007, but left for the ANPP when Joy Emordi was selected to contest the seat by the PDP.

Also announced today was the crossing of Senator Uche Chukwumerije (PPA-Abia North), to APGA. Chukwumerije said that his decision ``to jump ship'' and pitch tent with AGPA was taken after due consultation with his constituents both at the state and local government levels.

He said the crisis rocking the PPA made it imperative for him and his followers to move over to APGA, so he would use their platform to adequately represent his peoples’ interest.

While Mr. Chukwumerijie symbolically went over to his new party's position, Mr. Igbeke was not in the Senate Chambers to take his seat in the PDP section.

I had said this in just few days back that they are all political shoppers more are still shopping while some will soon join the shopping madness. They are not sure of where they belong or whom they are all they want is fertile land.

There is no need cursing Senator Alphonsus Igbeke, the arithmetic is simple. In Anambra State ANPP does not stronghold in the State any longer, so the guy has the option of decamping to either APGA or PDP whichever he chooses especially if he has to ambition to contest in 2011 general election.

As far am concerned there is no need for all these name calling against the man. It is all about political arithmetic and if you do not understand, you will be swallowed and most times you loose relevance.

A do or die affair is why we have no good opposing party.

What is the meaning of ANPP again? Such parties have no place in alaigbo. Good jump to the ruling party, Senator Igbeke. Who wants to be a loser, raise your hands.

I hold the Nigerian courts including the supreme court for all this crap.

If they had determined all this while whether we vote for party or individuals at elections this would have been resolved and people will know that when they change parties they will loose their current office.

On the other hand, I see PDP as a political kidnapper, using deprivation of sense of belonging to hoodwink gullible traitors to its camp.

It is long over due that it be made a constitutional matter that any one elected on one platform should not decamp with the mandate, but relinquish all positions, powers and privileges from his former camp.

In nigeria politics,all things are possible.if Atiku can be jumping up and down like a frog,what else do you expect.

@ aisha2 and Jarus, i think we just see Nigeria politician as most arsenal FC footballer , when they where nothing Arsene wenger signs them but when he groom them to world standard they leave for Barca or Madrid as the case maybe , For all that cares to know, i am telling you authoritatively that the agreement he had before the court of appeal sitting in Enugu pronounce him as the winner of that senatorial sit was that he must decamp and that was just what he did , ASHY politicians 

PDP is where its at. Money, that is.
