odiaero:

^^ that is where u get it all wrong, my friend visit boeing website and be updated, not wiki, hv u ever seen where 737-100 is operating?
manny4life:

Although you right , I guess what the first person who responded to your post thought you said was B737's are no longer in service. Actually the 100's models have been phased out, the current models currently manufactured are the 300s, 400s, 500s, 600s, 700s and 900s series. The 900s series being the newest series.

You know how many times I tell people not to use wiki as a source of info, rather if you need to, use it to as a source of reference.

The Wikipedia article clearly states that the 737-100 series has been phased out. Why exactly are you criticizing the article? It's 100% accurate in this case.

No problem with 2 planes going anywhere with the President. Second plane is supposed to be a backup not the First Lady's plane.
About poor maintenance, forget it. If a simple Sikorvsky bird that hovers anyhow back and forth offshore and onshore locations (I call it my "air taxi"wink is checked several times daily after a couple of landings then how on earth can we think the King Bird will be neglected?

The most important piece of information here is that the president traveled with two jets, one for him and one for his wife.
This is a shocking revelation and we are silent about it,
This is bad news, how much did that cost the tax payer?
Please can someone give me a hint of how much it cost to fly two jets to Uganda one for the president and one for his wife?

It beats me blue to see how the wife's of Nigerian Heads of State act as if Nigerians elected them into office.I keep wondering what she was doing there 'with her delegation'since she is not part of her Oga's delegation.Still they tell us Nigeria is broke, why won't she be when people in government treat governance as a family business.

Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by Nixo: 9:44am On Jul 29, 2010
This is an issue that not only excite me but also shows how bad our aviation industry is. The so-called NCAA guidelines and all were probably over-looked as it shows because there are standards and guides for all operating aircrafts in the country and such sud apply also to the presido's craft as well. Someone somewher overlooked a certain component's due date and/or fault hence this massive disgrace, Old planes my , grin grin grin grin grin, Cockcroach of AFRICA stand up and be counted, it is your time in the limilight,

MR Pesido pls Order an ATR-72-600 and the likes , grin cheesy grin cheesy grin tongue tongue tongue
Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by yemstrad(f): 9:48am On Jul 29, 2010
I agree with you guyz saying that there is no need for Presidential Jet. But, what do we say about Pastors having Private Jet in Nigeria? Are we saying they used their personal money for such or the money that belongs to the church? People that cannot afford a tin of rice to eat goes to church every other day even on borrowed money and are made to part with such money all in the name of God.
Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by cystein(m): 9:50am On Jul 29, 2010
I wonder why the president cant get a simple CRJ 200ER! Thats more economical than that Air Okada he is riding on there! Interestingly, the Airforce aint commercial thus i find it a big joke for them to have such.
Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by Ben13: 9:56am On Jul 29, 2010

Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by tkb417(m): 10:18am On Jul 29, 2010

Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by shotuns: 12:33pm On Jul 29, 2010
Well , i think there is nothing wrong with the president travelling with 2 planes.  incase a situation like this occur  the other one will be for back up. I

guess the first lady's plane left before that of the president developed the fault . For your reference we all heard what happen to the POLISH

PRESIDENT, HIS FAMILY AND ALL CABINET MEMBERS in that terrible crash in Russia. . May be  trying  to avoid same mistake, Just my thought.

that sikorsky is owned by peopel who understand the need for maintenance - that plane is the property of the nigerian governement - the same governemnt that has failed to maintain roads, phcn, our schools, etc

someone probably used the maintenace budget for an owmbe party

on the flip side, maybe the hand of ibb is in this - shebi he has precednets from the 90s - anyway na johnny, the man with infinite luck (even if he has nothing else leadeship etal- ) so no shaking

Thats a short haul regional airline and as a president you dont travel to regional places you go everywhere US,russia, china e.t.c so that wouldnt be ideal
And it is not large enough as the president may travel with his wife aides, delegations including the wifes delegation

Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by totorimi: 10:52am On Jul 30, 2010
The president and danme dont need to enter the same plane for security reasons. for a volatile political terrain like ours that could be a target attack for an enemy to wipe out the entire Jonathan dynasty.
Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by eewule(m): 12:29pm On Jul 30, 2010
Nigeria's poor maintainance culture has caught-up with Mr president, else its been an assasination attempt. I hope this one misses international news headlines,
otherwise another bad blow to our already poor image as a nation
