I'm not sure I get what your enquiry is about but I use between 20 to 80pips on my trades. But I'm mist comfortable with 33pips sl. Really depends on my risk appetite for a particular setup. Let's take this setup together:

USDJPY SELL NOW @ 109.67
SL 110.00
TP 108.40

This running in 72pips, not quite at my 2R target yet, extending for more.

I'm going to anticipate your reversal to test the broken trendline and short on USDJPY now... this also coincides with a monthly trendline.
Entry 109.328 sl 40pips tp close to the broken trendline. Looking to get around 1:2 on this setup.
