Atiku was in there but refused to come out when he knows Buhari is not coming. I know the Dullard Buhari will not attend except if Osibanjo will be in there.

Atiku has made his biggest political image gain in this contest by going to America. But if he fail to appear in this debate, it is a serious low for him. It would have been a good mileage for him over Buhari. If he had come, it would not determine his winning, though.

Buhari and Atiku is taking Nigerians for granted. They seem not to depend on the masses for votes. I wish none of them wins this election. Nonsense

Exactly they believe on rigging, so they don’t need Nigerians votes. This country can never be fixed unless this useless and visionless leaders die

So it ok for buhari to miss debate than atiku to miss debate too. Atiku is now the biggest loser because he refused to come out but its very ok for buhari(incumbent) to stay away from the debate. Smh

As I said earlier, this Atiku never intended to attend the debate.dont understand why his supporters are rating him more than he rates himself.

Shows you weren't watching. The moderator acknowledged his presence. He decided to boycott the debate following Buhari's absence.

Ta your mouth there. This was a golden oppourtunity for him to show case himself . At least we agree buhari is a poor communicator...if he were wise he would have stood in

Let me give you the position of your MCM in 2015.

"He argued that there is no basis for debate since the record of the PDP and Mr. Jonathan in government is public knowledge."

What record are we talking about?
Garba Shehu listed them as:

“We are not shadow-chasers or moonwalkers. The APC is concerned mainly with the lack of unity and security in Nigeria; plus the growing decimation of lives, property and territory of our great country due to preventable insurgency; the slumbering economy; decaying educational system; absence of jobs; poor public health; and the cancerous institutionalization of corruption in our national life. You can’t fool the people all the time."

Interchange APC and PDP and Buhari in both quotes above and tell yourself it doesn't speak for Nigeria today.

If the present situation doesn't educate Nigerians on how to use their PVC, then, we're talking of a case beyond redemption.

This is not entirely true. As much as not everyone would watch, people who do, usually propagate the issues generated from debates to those who didn't.

In the end the information gets to the remote corners.

The fact is APC and PDP will not make Nigeria great. Making Nigeria great is in the hands of the citizens. We are the reason why we are backward yet we complain. Can we see that the PDP and APC we look up to don't give a damn about us. Why don't we surprise them by collectively voting one of these three candidates +Sowore( I don't know why he was not included. The young man ought to be there) . These young men and woman are capable and they can represent Nigeria anywhere. Neither Buhari nor Atiku will change this country for good.If it were a civilized society that they absent themselves from such a debate talked about since last year, the masses would have voted them out. We want to be great like Americans yet we the citizens allow PDP and APC to play with our brains. Are we slaves to APC and PDP? Both parties have nothing positive to offer Nigerians. We can continue to suffer or give this country a better attempt at being great.
Say No to APC, Say No to PDP.

This is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the venue of the debate this evening. He was there and mixed with the other Presidential candidates as seen in this picture of him shaking Kingsley Moghalu.

However, when he realised that President Buhari would not be attending, he decided to decline the debate.

This is his official statement below:

'We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar can not challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies. After all you cannot shave a man's head in his absence. I do not believe in attacking a man who is NOT here to defend himself. As a leader and former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, let me first apologise to all Nigerians, my fellow candidates and the moderator for the the APC Presidential Candidates absence in this debate. His non-appearance is a slight on ALL of us and our democracy.

Secondly, with all due respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu and to the moderator Mark Sugar and with apologies to all Nigerians here and at home expecting an interesting debate, I regret that I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari's absence.

I however challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well.

Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Atiku Abubakar
