THE PROBLEM WITH OUR LEADERS

Most Ngerian leaders don't deserve the name 'leader' and it is true but very unfortunate that a country's development is seen and measured by the quality of its leaders. No wonder countries who take leadership serious set the bar of becoming a leader too high.

Those we have as leaders have failed Nigeria, they have disappointed the citizens, have lied on oath, their children can't stand on any integrity on their personalities and have earned anathema on their names in the annals of our history.

Why are most acclaimed leaders in Nigeria see no dignity in serving the country selflessly? Why do they always choose the cheap and shameful wide way that leads to perdition?

After seeking our votes and when they get into office they almost immediately dish or take lightly their campaign promises while taking more serious their selfish gains. They now bar themselves from the voters and rely only on the persons they surround themselves with to get the feelings of the citizens as regard their performance but will only remember the voters again toward another round of elections. Nigerians need to understand and note how foolishly we have been dealt with over the years.

Promiscuity always comes with loads of reasons. Same way the majority of these so-called leaders who are bereft with leadership ideas and skills have no ideological inclination toward any of the parties whatsoever; are ready to jump in and out of any or every political party for the single reason of SELF and shamefully we celebrate them while other countries that have made progress laugh at us.

Leaders are afraid of the citizens were leadership is taken seriously and thus, must work for them to avoid been rejected or being painted negatively by history. Nigeria's case is the other way round: citizens are afraid of the leaders', perhaps because of our weak institutions that allow them to intimidate, harass, illegally arrest and molest in violation to our laws.

Nigerian Youths for Good Governance is only seeking the reversal of the abnormality. Leader should be afraid of the citizens: whether PDP or APC or any other party in government the office of the citizens should be respected. Only when we have achieved this, we can comfortably say goodbye to mediocres as pseudo- leaders.
