Nwaforj44:
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday pledged the cooperation of Nigeria to the effort to reduce oil output in order to attract higher prices in the global market.

Speaking at an audience with Mr Ahmad Qattan, Minister of State for African Affairs and Special Envoy of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia, at the State House, Abuja, President Buhari said as a responsible member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Nigeria was willing to go along with the Saudi initiative in limiting output so that prices would go up.

The President, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said output cuts had always been difficult for Nigeria considering the country’s peculiar circumstances of large population, huge expanse of land and state of under-development, adding, “I wish we can produce more.”

He, however, said: “I have listened carefully to the message. I will speak with the Minister of State Petroleum. I will call for the latest production figures. I know that it is in our interest to listen. We will cooperate.”

President Buhari explained that higher oil prices will make both nations stronger and their citizens more prosperous.

He commended King Salman for his leadership in global oil matters, assuring that Nigeria will continue to accord respect to the Kingdom in that regard.

The Special Envoy said he had brought special greetings from King Salman and the Crown Prince, and expressed their best wishes for Nigeria as the country goes into general elections.

Mr Qattan said the important reason for which King Salman sent him was to make a request to President Buhari to ensure Nigeria’s compliance with quotas assigned in January by exiting previous exemption from output cuts.

He said his country had reduced its own output by 1.4 million barrels per day to ensure that prices went up, stressing however, that Saudi Arabia alone cannot bring stability to the oil market and shore up prices.

The Special Envoy called for greater adherence to production cuts by Nigeria and hoped that he would take a positive message back home.

NORTHERN NIGERIA POLITICAL LEADERS TAKE YOUR MINDSET FROM NIGER DELTA 'S CRUDE OIL.

Face your God given agriculture and build it to world standard.

Late Sir Ahmadu Bello the then premier of northern region built the northern economy from proceeds from agricultural produces like groundnuts, cotton, leather, hide and skin, cattle, ram sheep, etc

President Muhammadu Buhari is wrongly focused on crude oil. Since Military head of state General Olusegun Obasanjo spoilt the then col Buhari in 1978 by making him a petroleum commissioner, Buhari so much love crude oil money to the extent that it is next to nothing. Late General Sani Abacha rehabilitated military-toppled Buhari by giving him the petroleum trust funds job where Buhari saw big crude oil money and got dirtily spoilt on the easy way to make money.

He is now senselessly and foolishly wasting the little money that was realised from previous sale of crude oil in exploring for new search for crude oil in the middle belt and some parts of the core north. This is money that he should have targeted towards agriculture.

The big question:

"WHY WASTE MONEY IN THE ILLUSIVE SEARCH FOR CRUDE OIL IN NORTHERN NIGERIA?

The fact that crude oil was found in small quantity in the dry arid country of Chad a neighboring country to most Nigeria northern states is not enough proof that crude oil will be found in Northern Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari should change his crude oil mentality and diversify Nigeria economy into agriculture.

Mr President should think outside the box and bring foreigners to invest in agriculture like what Senate President Bukola Saraki did by bringing Zimbabwean white farmer to cultivate agricultural crops in Kwara state while he was governor of Kwara state.

Ex-governor James Ibori of Delta state invested in Songhai farm in Amukpe, Sapele, Delta state an idea he borrowed from the prestigious Songhai farm in Benin republic.

The incumbent governor Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state also invested in agriculture through a YEGI programmes.

Why is President Muhammadu Buhari not interested in developing agriculture a profession from his own northern region?

IT IS BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ZERO INTEREST FOR AGRICULTURE THAT IS ENCOURAGING MOST STATE GOVERNORS TO SHOW ZERO INTEREST IN INVESTING IN AGRICULTURE.

Nigeria is wasting their time if they think they can influence global crude oil price!

A well developed agricultural policy will create jobs for unemployed youth through the various chains from planting, harvesting, transporting, processing, administration, sales, exporting etc

Above all, a good agricultural system will ensure national food sufficiency therefore guaranteeing food security.

Price of food items will be reduced in the market.

I implore Nigeria 's political leaders to change from their CRUDE OIL MENTALITY and create an enabling process to diversifying the economy.

And they still want to come back to continue from where they stopped.
PDP IN NIGERIA AGAIN?! God forbid bad thing!

GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Certain people just talk like they have forgotten so soon. Which State Governors took GEJ to court to enforce that the money is been shared among states? Same opposition made up with APC kicked against saving and GEJ maintained his ground in only to be taken to court and the court ruled he should share in accordance with the constitution. Your party then supported the move now you're here talking nonessential. Who applauded Amechi, Saraki, Kwankwaso, Rochas, Fashola, etc. You all fought GEJ for accepting the advice of Okonjo and even went to court now you're blaming the same for obeying court order. APC said they've diversified the economy how come they are still depending on oil to survive.

So the Minister of petroleum doesn't know the figures?
