Food & Beverage West Africa

The exhibition will host over 120 food and beverage companies both internationally and locally and host over 4,000 attendees consisting of local importers, distributors, retailers, manufacturers, hospitality and other industries.

Nigeria’s population is growing rapidly – from the estimated 198 million currently, it will be over 260 million by 2030.

Unsurprisingly, Nigeria is by far the largest grocery retail market in Africa, with over 20 significant urban population centres. The food and grocery retail industry has been forecast to generate total revenues approaching US$60bn currently, with the food segment accounting for 75% of that, around $44bn. And within the food sector, fast food and processed food accounts for a quarter.

Supermarkets and hypermarkets are increasing in numbers across Nigeria as customers and consumers turn to modern grocery retailers for convenience, quality and comfort in their shopping experience.

But supermarket chains are still considerably fragmented and relatively small, so don’t yet have the buying power seen by larger supermarket chains on other continents. That means suppliers can have a better say in commercial deals in Nigeria.

While more traditional retailers predominate, they too are recognising the demand for customer choice and convenience by increasing product range, increasing the proportion of packaged goods, and having longer retailing hours.

Food and Beverage West Africa is therefore a fantastic opportunity to showcase new food and drink products and to build better business connections across the grocery, catering and wider F&B industry in Nigeria and beyond.
