Jonathan Meets With Buhari Behind Closed Doors ! by wales(m): 6:07am On Sep 01, 2010
In preparation for next year's elections, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday met with a former Head of State and Presidential aspirant, Muhammadu Buhari, behind closed doors.

Though details of the meeting were not immediately known, sources said Mr. Jonathan used the occasion to breakfast with Mr. Buhari, as part of the Islamic month of Ramadan.

The meeting comes barely 24 hours after Presidential spokesman, Ima Niboro, affirmed that the President is engaging notable past leaders, on best ways to achieve free and fair elections next year.

If Buhari can find a way to work with Jonathan, then Jonathan's government might have some credibility and some backbone. Out of all the aspirants, I prefer Buhari.

I dont see any reason to be worry about GEJ meeting the political leaders there should be no sentiment in this he has every right to meet anybody as the president and he cant be so stupid to base his meeting with anybody on trying to appeal for any of the presidential aspirant for Vice position pleae lets apply a common sense in this meeting of the politician of a thing he(GEJ) has met OBJ, Yakubu Gowon, Shagari, Abdulsalam etc so are all these people seeking anything from him or is he seeking Vice presidential ticket for them?.

They said meeting at close door not negotiate at a close door meeting someone could be for any reason for goodness sake. I dont see any reason he would want to persuade any of the aspirant to join him or run as Vice. Can someone tell a calibre of Buhari or IBB in their status to come and be his Vice? Please lets think about this for a second, all thses speculations are purely baseless.

I cannot remember Jonathan promising anything [was it when he was campaigning to be president?] He never said he was running for any position so why the call to vote for him.Has Jonathan done much for me to vote for him [if he asks for my vote] I will say NO.He has not proved to be a strong willed leader. The power around him is the voice of Jacob but the body of Esau. Why has OBJ suddenly resurrected in the nation's politics. So far Jonathan has made approvals on projects whose impact on alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians remain doubtful-acquisition of presidential jets, money for the 50th anniversary of independence, redesigning of #50 note. While I suspect these are ways of raising funds for 2011 elections,it is a reflection of leadership of waste he will run as a president.
I still await the emergence of credible candidate as president and indeed all elective posts and hope that elections should free and fair. For its not Jonthan.

So how do you explain the 54 suitcases of raw cash saga, how come he there are very strong allegations that he stole $2.8billion?
Stop giving wings to myths.

On the 31st December, 1983, Buhari struck, under the cover of the political commotion that trailed the Presidential election results of the time.  In reality, power was seized for the opportunity to destroy documents relating to the NNPC’s missing US$2.8 billion oil money, and punish all those involved in unraveling the scam.  Politicians and critics, including Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, notorious for clamouring for the exposure of the oil money rogue Minister of Obasanjo’s military epoch, were locked up without trial.  Buhari’s regime had a penchant for incarcerating all and sundry.  Satire saved my neck at the time.

Jonathan is respected gentle man who is very diplomatic in his political dealings with people, he consulting with the political bigwigs of this country, he doesn't want to do it alone, he is a wise man. Everybody cannot like one person, so the few people that does not see any good thing in what GEJ is doing are doing so becouse they dont seem to like him, but i'm very sure that many still like the man and they are really in support of his noble anbition.
