With increase rate of xenophobic attacks springing across the globe, as we recently saw in the news where a Nigerian was stoned to death in South Africa not to mention of other violent attacks meted on Nigerians not shown in the media in different parts of the world where they are meted with harsh treatment in their host country, their shops looted, some of them physically ,verbally and emotionally abused, what do you think will bring an end to these xenophobic attacks, what advice do you have for Nigerians or other Nationals living in south Africa or other countries infamous with xenophobic attacks to foreigners.

While the starting sentence of this piece suggests that xenophobic attacks are on the rise globally, there's no substantial evidence to back the statement. The attacks on a few Nigerians in SouthAfrica (a country out of over 50 in Africa) isn't enough to make such affirmative suggestions.

The attacks on Nigerians in SouthAfrica can rightly be termed as xenophobic. However, we must try to inquire further into the root causes of these attacks which may not be xenophobic.

We can blame the security and law enforcement agencies of South Africa for not doing enough to investigate these crimes with a view to curbing it, protect lives and properties of foreigners, as well as punish offenders in this act. When offenders are punished, it serves as a deterrent to others. Where they fail to do this, they're indirectly encouraging the criminals to carry on with their atrocities.

I'll also advise Nigerians in SouthAfrica who are exposed to this inhumane acts to stand up for themselves, be vigilant and appeal to the government to beef up security and encourage citizens to desist from the act.

Fight back just like fighting back against the murderous marauding Fulani herdsmen.
