lets go
18k was the basic
now 30k is the basic
30 minus 18 = 12k
therefore % increase =
12/18*100
=66.67%
With 50k salary earner
66.67/100*50,000
=33,000k
New wage will be 50k+33k
83k
There are other ways of calculating it though using just the basic

Is the 50k inclusive of allowances

I keep saying Nigerians dont know how Nigeria is being run, the comments above give credence to this. In Nigeria, only civil, public and govt workers generally benefit from the official minimum wage, private organisations do whatever maximises their profits, they can slash salaries at will, reduce staff strength or increase staff work load, you either adhere or resign.

If you are sensitive at all, you will observe the MW crusade is being driven by civil servants.

If you are not on govt payroll or if you think the increased MW will make the economy boom, you need brain transplant
Re: Does New Minimum Wage Affect All Salary Earners? by Reference(m): 3:51pm On Apr 20, 2019
This is exactly what I am saying. This minimum wage matter has been on the national burner for the last three years or so. Strikes affecting the nation have come and gone. Debates have happened in the Legislature and within civil society circles. The public has aired their views albeit making political mud pies out of it, but.....

Ask the average Nigerian what the details are, the nitty gritty, the effects and implications and you will be none the wiser. That is the story of the average citizen of this country....ignorance... an abject failure to know and get properly and objectively involved in the organisation and determination of the society he lives in.

Unfortunately leaders are groomed to know this and quickly detect the ambivalence of the people they are meant to serve and that is why it is so easy to whip up sentiments to keep them busy while they can do and practically get away with anything. Now that the cry is loudest about the bad economy, why won't it be convenient to raise the minimum wage now to whip up sentiments yet again and paper up the cracks in what is a obviously economic maladministration.

Ask me again whether my pet cat will be getting a raise.... nonsense angry

Don't mind them.
Just fed up with the docile fellows I share this country with.
Just see what the youth of other countries get involved in.... pure knowledge based activism.

don't mind guys here, they won't keep mute if they don't have anything to say.
Fact: minimum wage will cut across board. A staff on level 3 that has been receiving 30k will not be lumped together with a level 1 and 2 staff that have been receiving 18k and 26k respectively, where is the justice in this. ?
For people presently earning higher than 30k, their new pay will be calculated by using only their basic salary (you can get your basic salary from your payslip) to divide the last minimum wage of 18k then multiply the result By the present 30k minimum wage, after which, you now add other allowances such as housing medical, transportation and others
exactly! I think a certain percentage will be multiplied by ur gross income, when u get the result. . . U do the subtraction of tax, pension, loans, etc to get the net which is the 'take home ' pay.

100k will be 167k. Don't forget tax is included in the 67% increment
yeah but that's for the gross income but when deductions are made it will drop to abt 130k. I think oh

Minimum wage affects all workers' salary. The salary structure is computed using the minimum wage. The last minimum wage was computed using N18,000.

Now that it has changed to N30,000 workers salary will be adjusted to reflect the increase at all levels. Minimum wage increase is not just for cleaners
U're spot on. It reflects at all levels, especially for federal n state government workers.

I learnt from my colleagues that the simple calculation is dis, if Mr A earns Y, it will now be Y/18000x30000=New wage.

LOL. You've not been following the whole debate. The current minimum wage only affects those earning below 30k.

The argument is that no worker should earn below 30k. If you're currently on a salary of 500k per month, do not expect a 40% increment -- 900k. Your salary remains the same.
Which of the state governors or CEOs can double your salary at the current state of the economy?

That's the argument and conclusion both at the executive and legislative arms.

Issues like this are some of the reasons some of us kicked against the senseless increment in minimum wage. How can you increase minimum wage from 18k to 30k (40% increment) and tell those earning 40k, 100k, etc. to go to hell? Labour union also f00lishly agreed to the du.mb idea.

The public like you and many others out there are also making the same mistake. You all were f00led. Your salary will not increase, not even by 1% unless you earn below 30k.

Better to increase minimum wage by 15% and allow it affect all Nigerian public and private sector workers. That's what I expect from Labour Unions. The current arrangement is dum.b, an idea of du.mb legislators in Abuja.
Point of correction sir, it affects all government workers' salaries. My colleagues I met in the federal civil service said they all got an increase in pay when the previous minimum wage increment was done. These are all senior staff.

Oga u don't know anything, nada. 67% is for every grade level. Add 67% of ur current salary to your salary, that's ur new salary. U guys will be saying what u know nothing about. Don't forget the higher ur grade level, the higher ur tax rate.
Sensible.

The increment cut across all level n salary structures
But the percentage may differ
Am certain ministry workers I.e those on CONPSS will have dsame 66% increase across level 1 to 17 cus they are the real people who earn dis 18k plus state workers
den those in other salary structures like conraiss, contiss, conauss etc will also get their own increase but might not be of same % as they have been earning 40 to 60k as ur minimum via different allowances like harzard, wardrobe allowance etc
cus I remember wen buu buu said they will go into negotiation with top salary earners
