Cross River State Governor, Mr. Donald Duke, has recently in a public function expressed indignation over the poor results posted by secondary schools students in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) just released, also threatened to sanction any unsuccessful candidate. He emphasised that as a governor, father and stakeholder in the future of the state, he is bothered by the deplorable state of education in the country. He gave examples with four secondary schools in Calabar that performed woefully in the 2005 May June SSCE, namely West African People Institute (WAPI), Army Day Secondary School, Government Secondary School and NYSC Secondary School. He disclosed that out of 82 students from WAPI that were registered for the 2006 SSCE only four had credits in five subjects with none recording pass in English Language and Mathematics, while for Government Secondary School, only five students had five credits with none recording pass in English and mathematics MY QUESTION TO DUKE: How many Cross Riverians passed the Carnival and Festival exams ? It's the case of misplaced priority by your administration. You cannot plant Cocoyam and reap Rice. Abi I lie? |
