...Four Plead Guilty to Charge

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office today, Thursday, May 30, 2019 arraigned five suspected internet fraudsters at the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

The suspects were arraigned on five separate charge bordering on obtaining money by fraudulent trick and impersonation, an offence punishable under Section 14(2)of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention etc) 2015.

Three of the suspects Gabriel Akhibge, Isaac Christiana Nkemdirum and Innocent Uyioshoria were arraigned before Justice A A. Demi-Ajayi. They pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against them.

Two other suspects, Osawaru Samson and Onineh Dickson Imaboyor were arraigned before Justice M G. Umar, Imaboyor pleaded guilty to the charge but Osawaru pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

In view of the plea of the defendants, the cases were adjourned to June 13, 17, and 24 for review of facts and sentencing.

Below is my response to a brother on this thread to his obvious ignorance...

The country is hell owing to bad leadership, out of frustration many set out for an escape even through deadly and irregular means where most perish while trying to go in search of a better life abroad.

The few who make it across irregularly and regularly, arrive at their host countries while many take to a life of trying to harvest from a farm where they haven't sown so as to hurriedly come back to the supposedly 'hell-hole' they escaped from and taunt the ones at home with their new found "lavida loca" lifestyle and new found shitty wealth.

The few back home who had known this latest "hush puppy Michael Jackson" from his growing up days in the hood as one who often carried his entire class on his head when results are called because, he was indeed a dundee united, will be amazed at how quickly his fortune had changed for the better since his migration, and a craze for jetting out by hook or crook is birthed.

Now, the countries hosting these ungrateful lazy "runaways" will begin to beat themselves up for ever opening up their arms and borders in welcome of these brothers and sisters of ours, and before you know it, they go tough on their policies and soon begin to blacklist us from migrating to theirs easily or making it a tough nut to crack for our people back home from engaging in legitimate enterprises which abounds on the world wide web because a very few knuckle heads like i once was had muddled up whatever good there was left of a country called "Nigeria".

This a vicious cycle and the ripple effects of our actions and inactions.

The rampant cases of internet frauds are clear indication of inadequate attention being paid to youth development in Nigeria,FG should device other means of tackling and curbing this menace other than raiding,arresting and prosecuting offenders.
