Founded in 1989 and located in Ogun state, the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu is one of the foremost medical facilities in Nigeria. In fact, it was once adjudged as one of the best teaching hospitals in the country, but now, it has become a shadow of its former self.

Plagued by inadequate staffing, the dearth of facilities, dilapidated structures as well as unpaid salaries, the one-time lifesaver of accident victims and patients in critical condition, can no longer be called a hospital.

Just recently, concerned eyewitnesses of the sickly state of the hospital adopted the hashtag #SAVEOOUTH put a spotlight on sad testimonies from students, patients and staff. It’s right to say the hospital is the perfect depiction of the level of rot in our medical sector.
