So this friend of mine died since last year and each time I log into my Facebook account and scroll through, I still see his account thereby remembering me his departure. Is it that even when you are long gone, your account on social media lives on? Or is there a way of eliminating such? |

I'm sure we have hundreds of cases like that here on Nairaland where the owners of accounts had long gone but the accounts are still active on the forum. 1 Like |

JubrinElSudan: I know people who died suddenly 6 and 4 years ago respectively. The 6 years one was a young lady. She still gets tens of birthday wishes every year. Despite me writing on her wall each birthday that she's dead. For over 5 years now. |

A close relative ( spouse most times) that has access to his/her phone should log out from the account. |

Facebook has a policy for handling accounts whose owners are deceased. They can either memorialize the account or close it, but first you will need to contact Facebook. Google "facebook policy for deceased users". |
