Power was sourced from an empty spot from the fuse box (relay point).......

Finding power source is one, running the cables is another.... If you can do this..... You are unto a winner.......

The DRL came with hanging brackets, but i opted for super duper sticky pads + velcro..... Why drill unnecessary holes........... cheesy

Hmmmm, I'll download this page and save it. I'll order some fancy lights (angel eyes and the likes), from Aliexpress by month end. Once they come in, I'll hit you up for a proper walk through.

If buying the one in the picture, don't forget to buy 2 pieces......

Some listings are for only one piece of DRL........ wink

And not forgetting, you would also have to conduct a small surgical operation on your fuse box housing ..... If you shut cable without creating a small pinch, over longer periods of fuse box cover permanently resting on cables (forced shut).... Cable would become weaker and could snap.........

If you feel it's beyond your DIY abilities ..... Just watch them conduct this transformation.......

I have bought 2 more DRL lights extra (just incase the ones installed burns out (just a case of removing the cable at the DRL point and attaching new ones)....... cheesy

Forward thinking.............

The beauty about this install was, an original empty slot was already present..... So it slotted and fitted in nicely original.......... wink

The most difficult part, was locating power source, that comes on and off at ignition off........... (took almost 90 minutes of pinching cables and testing)...... Which in the end, turned out a wasted effort..........

I don't get it. Just draw power directly from the alternator?

The exposed bit of the alternator had constant power....... Ignition on/off..............

Two weeks ago, when I travelled to the outback, the car started acting up.

1. Rough idling. P0171 and P0174. Bank 1 and Bank 2 running lean.

First suspect? Bad fuel. I only fill at Stanel Awka or NNPC but I was away, so I had to fill up at less reputable stations.

Bought injector cleaner when I got back. Refilled. Still rough idling. Na wa.

2. Rattle in my exhaust. shocked
A noticeable rattle when I'm at 2000 rpm or so.

Suspect? Cats.

Took the car to the shop that Friday. For the aforementioned oil change and repairs.

Picture below was taken about an hour ago getting it washed. Stanel Awka sells good fuel. Car takes premium unleaded only, so I'm very particular about that. It's not premium but at least it's not garbage regular.

All pictures taken on my trusted LG V40.

Fixing the rough idling was a chore.

After eliminating fuel/fuel pump issues. It had to be an issue with the intake/throttle system.

BTW, the HR engines have two throttle bodies. Two mafs. Two everything. Because performance car. grin

First port of call was the air filters. They were a mess. Dusty on one bank and torn on the other. Had to be replaced.

Pictures below.

under what condition do you experience the lean condition or under what condition was the code set? At idle or higher RPM?
Check your freezeframe data to guide you.
Areas of usual suspect...
1. Check your exhaust for leaks especially points close to the upstream O2 sensors. (Did u do an exhaust job recently?
2. Low fuel pressure... i hope U did a fuel pressure test cuz if u didnt na koboko u go chop bro grin
3. Dirty MAF sensor. Inspect them carefully. If they are dirty they will def cause a false reading at WOT (wide open throttle).usually car will run well at idle but rough under load.

Could you kindly explain why U suspect the cats for rattle noise?
Do u av a P0420 code?

So, I replaced the air filters. And cleaned the MAFs. Throttle body was clean.

Rough idling stopped.

Discovered that a PCV hose wasn't connected. Reconnected it properly, clipped it back into place.

Rough idling started again. angry angry
I no know wetin dey worry Nissan tbh.

Took the car to the welders. Loosed out the exhaust. Catalysts were damaged. One had disintegrated, even.

Took out the cats.

Time to install spacers.

No space for bank 1. The O2 sensor would just end up hitting the transmission. We rugged am, force am in.

The 02 sensor wire cut. grin
And na like 10k for market. undecided

Installed 02 sensor with spacers on bank 2. Funny enough, there was plenty space on that side. All fine and good until the car started throwing codes for cats on both banks. grin

The one wey spacer dey o, and the one wey spacer no dey. grin
So, basically I lost an O2 sensor for nothing.

Drove the car extensively without any O2 sensors on bank 1.. No difference at all to performance or fuel economy. I still get the 11 mpg I've always gotten.

Very interesting tbh.

Thanks for this. I'll have a look into it.

Anyway, two days, the rough idling stopped on its own completely. No issues till now.

On the flip side, after the cat delete, this car now sounds like a sub-machine gun. shocked
Amazing sound. I was planning to do a muffler delete before this but I'm satisfied with how it sounds for now. I'll do a cold startup video later.

The cat delete also brought power gains. There's a noticeable increase in power after taking off the cats, especially in the low-end. Car pulls extremely hard now.
