Its not even the issue. The issue is lumping us together with India and China, then after the thrash talk, finally arriving at increasing personnels issuing visas in Nigeria.

This is what I call beer parlour discussion. Why would a MOD push this to front page? What has it added to our lives?

This is definitely a prayer. Prayer has ethics. Violating these ethics render it unanswerable. We like or we don't, when asked, he is our leader!

Yes SA has good tourism potentials but it would be a bad idea for tourists.
No amount of image laundry will clean South Africa from the threat of Xenophobia and robberies. Black South Africans have become a cancer to progress.
The rate of insecurity in SA is one that won't encourage tourists.
SA govt should do their homework properly before throwing their doors open to tourists via visa free packages. Just one more xenophobic attack on foreigners and they will wait for donkey years for tourists to visit.

Who travels to SA except for holidays? tongue
Even going there on holiday is extremely dangerous, particularly if you are a Nigerian. The deputy DG of CIIN that was gruesomely strangulated went for a conference
and they followed her to the "safety " of her hotel room to commit the crime. Have you ever heard of such a thing happening in Nigeria,
even in boko haram areas? Right from arrival at Jo'burg airport you are targeted not only by criminals but also police for extortion and you may get killed. A friend was robbed of 200 dollars in the toilet at that airport by, wait for it, a policeman in uniform. Forget the glitter, when it comes to crime SA is at the top of the pack.

A major part of South Africa's economy relies on its tourism. Imagine Nigeria, India and China make up 30% of the world's population but have no visa free relationship with South Africa. That just shows you that it's not about population size rather its about dollars and cents.

Americans can travel to South Africa without visa but South Africans need visa to enter America. They are not complaining because Americans are known to travel the globe and spend money that boost local economies. The GDP of California alone is bigger than that of the entire continent of Africa combined. So you see, money rules.

South Africa shouldn't grant us visa free status into their country, let us remain in Nigeria and develop it to be the envy of the world.
I agree with you but then a lot of factors are militating against development of this country ranging from bad leadership, dangerous "political practice", financial recklessness and so on. If we are to be sincere you will agree with me that of all the countries in Africa, Nigeria is abundantly blessed, be it in agriculture and mineral resources. But the question that always comes to mind is how have we been able to positively explore and convert them to develop our country to an enviable status. Believe me we may not be able to attain that status if we still have people who don't think or believe corruption has cost this country alot of things which in fact brings about why Nigerians wants away by all means. Look at it from this angle... Transportation, Electricity, Petroleum and other factors that contributes to development of business and economy are not well managed and if that is the case, you can't expect miracle to happen. We have to look inward but then when it turns to the survival of the fittest in your own country why won't anyone prefer a greener pastures. Sho'gun laye ni?

Don't be a criminal and stay away from criminally minded folks. It's as simple as that. Allowing emotions to cloud reason is futile. Majority of Nigerians who go down there live peacefully and live better lives.
