Job Description (General):

Plan, organize and implement appropriate classroom activities according to our fully blended British/Nigerian curriculum.
Work with the other teachers and Management to sustain effective teaching and learning.
Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to learning and teaching.
Implement an active and all-round assessment framework.
Be willing to take a role in the development of new and evolving technologies to boost learning.
Monitor, evaluate and review classroom practices and ensure that underperformance is challenged at all levels.
Engender the principle of challenge by supporting every child to achieve success and become engaged in their own learning and development.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and the standard of pupils’ achievement using performance targets.
Report frequently on progress in the discharge of all duties.
Keep abreast of all new practices by attending courses, reading books, newsletters, etc.
Execute any other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

Incorporates curriculum requirements and plans lessons, telling the pupils what projects to create.
Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering and art history.
Knows and applies the elements of design and modern principles of art.
Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing and painting, brushing, layering, etc.
Organizes and coordinates displays of children’s work with the help of the teachers to show recognition and affirmation to the children.
Maintains an attractive and stimulating learning environment and contributes to displays in the school as a whole.
Selects books and art supplies for arts, observing and evaluating the students’ work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.
Instructs the students in the proper care and use of tools and equipment.
Accompanies students on field trips to museums and art galleries.
Organizes periodic art exhibitions designed to showcase students’ work for the school and the general public.
Organizes storage areas and controls the use of materials and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
Responsible for all school decorations in and out.
Qualification Requirements:

NCE, B. Ed., B. A. + PGDE, B. Sc. + PGDE in relevant field.
A minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience and, possibly, experience leading the learning of other teachers.
Computer proficiency.
Working knowledge of the British curriculum as well as tenets of Christian education will be added advantage.
