The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said the National Hajj Commission has requested the details of some top scoring candidates in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to perform the holy pilgrimage for free .

The board said some commercial banks in the country have also demanded the top 100 UTME candidates for scholarships to study in tertiary institutions across the country.

The board stated this in its weekly bulletin obtained by our correspondent on Monday , adding that such offers were a “ demonstration of the acceptability and confidence in the board ’ s products . ”
JAMB said , “ The conduct of the 2019 UTME has witnessed a dramatic turn of events with many startling discoveries and the capacity of the board to navigate the emerging threats . As a result of the handling of the crises and performances , many corporate organisations have called on the board to furnish them with top scoring candidates to offer scholarships to study in tertiary institutions of their choice or even to perform holy pilgrimage .

“ This pilgrimage was offered by the National Hajj Commission. There are banks which are also demanding the top 100 UTME candidates for scholarships . This is a stamp on the approval of the board ’ s products and efforts at repositioning the conduct of public examinations in Nigeria .

“ The fight against examination corruption should therefore be fought on all fronts . This is because of the board ’ s belief that the first manifestation of corruption is cheating in an examination . ” ...

Of course by default, such offer is for Muslims top scorers. Non Muslims have nothing to do with Islamic pilgrimage.

Besides, what exactly is your problem with the offer? Is it not a good way of encouraging students to be more dedicated to studies?

How do u encourage young scholars by sending them on an Islamic jihad mission. Of what use is it to their academics?

That said, this is a sign that the corporate social responsibility of many firms in this country is misplaced.

Instead of supporting vanity and moral-debasing shows like BBN, they can take on sponsorship of schemes that improve the best among young people in intellectual and technical skills.

Religious bodies shouldn't be the ones telling these coys what to do.

The federal government, in accordance with the Nigerian constitution, allocates funds for religious bodies in all states. The fact that your people swindle your allocation isn't an excuse to blame others for refusing to engage in misappropriation of funds.

And so what? What's your business with someone being devoted to his religion? Is it your religion or is it your devotion.

Moreover, there's no such thing as being overly religious. The only thing there is religious ignorance which is the cause of extremism and laxity. Once people learn their religion they won't be prey on the hands of ignorant extremists and bigots like you.

Firstly, there's already funds for that.
Secondly, religion is an investment in national development.

Morals and values are soft skills that every human society needs. In fact many companies had rather employ a 2:2 that has high ethics than a first-class with no ethics.

What's the essence of a youths who have all the tech skills in the world but lack no sense of responsibility?

This is why we need restructuring. So states that want to develop can develop, others that want to spend their money on religious tourism can do that. I hate it when federal government sponsors Pilgrimage but they've done nothing thus far about the ogoni clean-up.

He made no sense . Some of you prefer to read people’s comment instead of the main story . Islamically sef it is not permissible to sponsor a non Muslim for hajj when there are countless Muslims still waiting for the opportunity.

I have come to realize that we don't love this country and perhaps we play opposition to everything that's encouraging.
Fine, sending them to hajj is not as reasonable as sending them to Educational programs but at least, it's still encouraging. Come to think of it, if these commission and the banks sponsor bb Niger or other social programs like best dancers and the likes, we would still come out to oppose them. what do we exactly want?
