Should The President Resign? by Abagworo(m): 10:10pm On Oct 17, 2010
The polity has been seriously heated up as a result of allegations from Jonathan's camp that IBB and northerners are behind the Abuja bombings. If it is proven that the northerners were not involved in the bombings,is it morally right for GEJ to remain in office, not to talk of going for re-election?

Was babangidas regime 86-1993 and abachas 94-1998 not worse than this? Did they resign?
Re: Should The President Resign? by Abagworo(m): 10:47pm On Oct 17, 2010
If it is established that northerners are innocent, then it is only normal that those involved in character assassination should go to jail.

bizarre reasoning - is a military dictatorship the same thing as a democracy?

it is also this sort of reasoning that menas nigeria will be forever backward - so the fact that my predecessors are failures is an excuse for me?

perhaps we should excuse the next education minister because of sam egwu

perhaps we should excues the next aviation minister because of borisade and whatisname

back to topic - it seems nigerians have no problem with a president who tells blatant lies - this whole bombing investigation has been one lie after another

clinton was impeached for lies of a much more personal and inconsequential nature, if gej is not impeached in the event that his lies are finally outed - then he better hand over the heads of his security advisers on a platter

Re: Should The President Resign? by Abagworo(m): 11:45pm On Oct 17, 2010
I hold nothing personal against my GEJ but I am beginning to notice that the investigations is yet to link any northerner. We only have some Igbo,Ijaw,English and Edo names. It is not always good to quickly comment on sensitive issues or point accussing fingers without proper investigations.

@toba,
how is now better than 86 - 1993? how much was garri then and how much is it now?what were the conditions of our roads, hospitals, quality of education, our security system then and now? why are we decieving ourselves? why are we stingy with the truth.
if we agree that ibb killed dele giwa, who killed bola ige?
do u by any chance know the difference between a military regime and a democratic govt.

I recall that those old bats, Kanti Bello, Tanko Yakasai, Ciroma, Kaita and the rest of their decripit gang issued an EMPTY ultimatum that has long since expired. I'm sure their humiliating experience would be useful to this thread. grin

Where have you seen that a President is charged for a statement, and by the way Jonathan never said it was the North, he only said it was not Niger Delta. It was the media that began speculating that it was a northern agenda since IBB campaign manager was involved

Get your facts right angry

the very sad thing about serving people is no matter what you try to do, no matter how much you sweat, there will still be those out there who will criticize. Nigeria is not an easy country to preside over. i can bet my pair of balls that if goodluck was to be removed today and someone else placed there, the same will still be said.

It happens all over the world. Everyone here in the USA knows that Bush really messed up the economy and left the country in a serious budget deficit, which in part led to the recession that happned. Obama tries to do what he can, but still people here are criticizing him for not turning the government around. I mean, no one, no matter how hard he tries, can create jobs for thousands of unemployed people, not in a few years of just getting into office. If u hear how people say Bush's regime is better than Obamas, you would want to shoot them. E veryone here is calling for Obama's head. i can bet my balls again that if he's removed and another installed, they'll wish he wasn't removed in the first place.

Re: Should The President Resign? by Abagworo(m): 1:27am On Oct 18, 2010
If the President was not involved then what he should do as an upright leader is to prosecute those in his campaign team that were quoted as mentioning IBB and other northerners. That will serve as a deterrent to those that always try to tribalise sensitive issues.
Re: Should The President Resign? by peacesak: 1:28am On Oct 18, 2010
If IBB had any love for nigeria, he would forsake his bid to become president because of the bombing.
Re: Should The President Resign? by Nobody: 1:31am On Oct 18, 2010
This thread makes no sense, sorry.

Are you not the same sets of people crying that nobody is standing up to the Abokis/Northerners. . . . now you got someone and you want him to step down?

During my few months in politics, I realize that most Nigerians are not meant to be taken seriously in terms of what they want. I just ROLL MY EYES all day long at you ppl sha.

Here we are crucifying someone who made a good Observation of the whole bomb saga and the way the govenement has been pointing accusing fingers left and right. The guy just asked a simple and unbiased question. Am surprised that some folks even see it as an irrelevant question.
Simple question as, what if it became obvious after investigation that the president lied to the whole Nation, would he still remain in the office or resign? This is a question of morality and not political, sentiment has blinded our eyes that we can no longer separate morality from politic. If that happens in a country where they reason like humans, he should not wait to be impeached, but jst humbly tender his resignation.

Am not sure you guys believe that the truth will never unfold one day.

source please. Who in GEJ'S team mentioned IBB or some northerners? If the SS finds it necessary to clarify issues from Dokpesi, then tell me what is wrong in that?

My friend why not just say hi to NL if you have nothing useful to say, rather than starting these senseless threads?
Re: Should The President Resign? by seunmsg(m): 11:17am On Oct 18, 2010
I cant remember the president mentioning the name of any northerner as the bomb mastermind so, their is no basis for calling for his resignation. Even at that, prominent northerners such as Adamu Ciroma And Kainti Bello have threatened to make the country ungovernable so, it is only reasonable if investigators of the bomb blast looks at these people as possible suspect.

The truth is not yet out, and people are already beginning to deny their allegations against individuals.
Even those who manufactured a new name for IBB. Independent Bomb blast.

Government did not directly point an accusing Finger to anybody but they quickly release and unconfirmed, half backed evidence (test message) which involved some individual names.
Question: why have they not released any other evidence so far or further confirm to the member public the authenticity of the evidence. I know many will argue that SSS are not suppose to release any of their evidences to the general public. So, am forced to ask why did they quickly release the text messaged evidence that pointed accusing fingers to some individuals to the public. We are not kids.

Shouldnt we think of charging those who openly threatened chaos with treason??

While I do think that GEJ should speak with restraint and caution, I dont think this is an issue worth resiging for.

nigerians and their short memories.
did we vote this man in? his coming to power was like a coup and in that case, he owe us no accountabilities in respect to his actions.
we must not forget that what we have in jonathan is a third term agenda in another form.
Re: Should The President Resign? by AbuMaryam1(m): 1:38pm On Oct 18, 2010
Well, in my opinion GEJ has make a mistake by exonerating MEND despite they had confess. As a president of a nation where religion and ethinicity has great influences he would have keep the can. On the other side telling Jona to resign has ignite the other side of the story. If you luk @ the whole affairs you will find out that its a draw game. 1-1. exonerate and resign ( both are inflammatory statements). And one more thing is our affairs, African affairs indeed, or black race affairs is quite in parallel with other part of the world. In conclutions GEJ could have not makes such dastardly approach, and those gormless coud have not demand for his resignation. Hence, Resignation is not a panacea in African way.
