I wonder why Jumia didn't list on the Nigeria stock exchange. Jumia is largely a African company trading largely in African currency, how do you list on stock exchange that is largely dollar dominant?

Every company's share in the world falls. That's why Huawei founder refused to list the company in any stock market. When Facebook shares crashed to an all time low because of scandals, Zuckerberg almost lost his position as chairman/ceo.

Jumia have never made a profit since 2012

Just because a company is indigenous to a country doesn't imply it must be listed on the stock market of its home country. Companies list where there is liquidity and no country has more liquidity than the US. Which is why every company jostles to list there. It's where the money is. You mention any Africa stock market, but do you know that there are less than five companies listed on the stock market of Cameroon? And besides South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt, other African stock markets are worthless and have no liquidity. Also, dollar is the world's dominant currency.

Trust me, as an entrepreneur, it's the best to list on the NYSE.

Social media having sections for online business and dropshiping has taken the market from businesses like Jumia and konga..

Before:
Alibaba - Amazon - Jumia - instgram - individuals..

Now:
Alibaba - Amazon - instagram - individuals..

Next:
Alibaba - Amazon - Individuals..

Future:
Alibaba - Individuals..

Hehe, the future is now.

People gladly buy stuff from all of Alibaba groups (1688, Alixpress, etc) directly delivered to their homes - like mini importation. The more the internet penetrates Nigeria, the easier importation of goods become, the harder Jumia and the likes try to make sales.

Jumia is not worth $14.50

Just a nice Exit Strategy for the PE Investors and if my experience in IPOs serves me right, this is just the best maturity period for the smart venture capitalist stakeholders to exit the deal structure with a chunk of ROI.

I can't wait to list my companies and relocate to Monaco, where I will leave my bones on the sands of time.
Wow Monaco to enjoy tax free... grin
