The hype surrounding white wedding must stop, we keep inviting the whole country at minimal income to please them yet suffer the repayment consequences.. I wish we can promote our tradition and give less fuss about this adopted and overhyped adopted western lifestyle. Lalasticlala!

Do what you can afford and leave the rest It’s that simple.

They just put themselves under pressure. Sometimes less is more. And you don't need to call the whole country before you wed. Plan something small and apologize later. Those that have large, society weddings are not more married than those that do small ones.

Some traditional weddings cost more . Even if you do away with church weddings, some people will still do expensive traditional wedding.
If you can afford an expensive wedding whether white/ traditional, go for it.
If you cant, cut your clothe according to your size

Most people do not even understand that "white weddings" are not necessary.

Start by educating them on that fact.

I'm a wedding photographer I can't agree with you more. People put themselves under social pressure and want to be up to par, weddings this days are very expensive, an average photographer will charge 150k videographer - 70k makeup artist - some charge 70k other charge 120k, then catering for your guests (People who really don't give a damn abt you), the hall, hall decor, alaga iduro, wedding gown, aso oke etc and some will even hire ushers and bouncers for their weddings. All these are good if you can afford it but what drives me crazy is when I see a couple whose combined monthly income isn't up to 120k per month planning a wedding of 3-5M they start saving years before the wedding, get loan and will still be in debt after the wedding. I can't complain much as I make a living from this industry but the thing is even if I'm to get married today I can't do an elaborate wedding be it white or traditional cos I can't start a new life in debt.

The fact is its a woman that determines the kind of wedding she wants... Traditional wedding is good but do people really understand the meaning of wedding apart from large crowd, and eating and drinking?

I must admit it's very hard to find a woman who wants a not so elaborate wedding
