Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Monday, returned to Nigeria 48 hours after he was attacked by members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that Ekweremadu was physically assaulted and publicly disgraced in Germany, on Saturday, by members of the IPOB.

The former Deputy Senate President was invited as a guest speaker at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, when the assault took place.

The Enugu West Senator arrived at the International Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, amid fanfare, reports Igbere TV.

Speaking to journalists at the Airport, on Monday, Ekweremadu said he has since forgiven his attackers and would not be seeking their punishment.

He said the attack was not a representation of the character of Nigerians both at home and abroad.

Ekweremadu, therefore, advised Nigerians and Igbo leaders to feel free to travel to any part of the world they wish, reiterating that he has since put the issue behind him.
