INTRODUCTION:
Worshipping and praising God become glorious when believers call God by His names. The names of God used in the bible also act as a roadmap to learning about His character. God's names also reveal His true nature to us. His nature and character remain constant through all generations. The names of God help us experience how majestic God is, how deeply He loves us and what He can do for us. Knowing the names of God will help us to put our trust in Him. (Psalm 9:10; Proverbs 18:10).

GOD'S GENERIC NAME

'ELOHIM' translated as GOD (Genesis 1:1), is derived from the Hebrew word 'El' which means strength or might, is the generic (comprehensive) name of God. The compound form of 'El' can be seen in the following names among others:
EL-gibbowr - "Might God" (Isaiah 9:6)
EL-elyown - "The Most High God" (Genesis 14:18-20; Eccl. 5:.
EL-gadowlwaw yare - "The Great and Terrible God" (Deut. 7:21).
EL- Shadday - "The Almighty God "(Genesis 17:1).
EL-'elohey Yisra'el - "The God of Israel "(Genesis 33:20).
EL-owlam - "The everlasting God" (Genesis 21:33).
El-aman - "The faithful God" (Deuteronomy 7:9.
EL-qannow - "The jealous God" (Joshua 24:19).
EL-ro'iy - "The God who sees" (Genesis 16:13).
EL-channuwmwawrachuwm - "The gracious and merciful God"(Jonah 4:2).

GOD'S PERSONAL NAME

Yahweh or Jehovah is the personal name of God. It is not a title like 'Adonai' translated 'Lord' (Jer. 33:2; Ps. 110:1). It is the same name by which God introduced Himself as 'I AM THAT I AM' (Exodus 3:13-14). In the compound from, we have:

1. Jehovah Rapha - "The Lord who heals" (Exodus 15:26).

2. Jehovah Rohi - "The Lord my Shepherd" (Psalm 23:1).

3. Jehovah Tsidkenu - "The Lord our righteousness" (Jer. 23:6).

4. Jehovah Qadash - "The Lord who sanctifies"(Lev. 20:.

5. Jehovah Nissi - "The Lord my banner"(Exodus 17:15).

6. Jehovah Shammah - "The Lord is there" (Ezekiel 48:35).

7. Jehovah Sabaoth - "The Lord of Host" (Isaiah 13:4).

8. Jehovah Jireh - "The Lord who provides" (Genesis 22:14).

9. Jehovah Shalom - "The Lord my peace" (Judges 6:24).

Believers expecting God's manifestation in any situation or circumstance should worship Him by calling Him His names attributed to that situation. For instance, God should be worshipped as Jehovah Jireh when one is in need of divine provisions.
