Logistics Manager

The successful candidate will ensure that the vehicles are running on time and staying compliant with proof of deliveries and other paperwork. It will then be your responsibility to scan all paperwork on to our transport system daily.

Experience within a transport / haulage / freight / logistics / traffic planning environment is necessary

Duties
• Maintaining and increasing relationships with drivers and subcontractors
• General traffic office administration
• Coordinating drivers via the phone
• Resolving logistics issues and addressing any incidents
• Preparing and processing all paperwork and updating systems accurately and efficiently
• Negotiating rates with suppliers
• Issue paperwork to drivers
• Document number plate and keys given to drivers
• Plan routes for drivers
• Record fuel inputs
• Record arrival and departure times
• Establish Driver and loading issues
• Handle all issues drivers may face or call the site for help with
• Log defects
• Pass vehicle breakdown information to Vehicle maintenance unit
• Maintain fuel usage system
• Update driver hours monitoring sheet on system and deal with any issues with shifts

Skills required
• Good communication skills, written and spoken.
• Work under own initiative
• Good attendance and punctuality
• Confident telephone manner
• Organised and methodical to be able to prioritize a busy schedule
• Intermediate / Advanced Excel & Word capabilities
• Experience and knowledge in a previous Logistics or Freight position
• Strong admin skills and email etiquette
• Good attention to detail.
